I have decided that the smartest way to get the weights for dumbbells I want is to buy the handles that are the same as my barbell weights.
I have googled for the handles, but either they have gotten bad reviews or are expensive. I also need the clips. Any help would be appreciated. Something preferably under $100 if possible.

i agree 100%.
i love my lock-jaw collars but wouldn't trust them on db handles. i have some of the cheap compression collars, too, they work great (thanks keet). i've only got one pair of the ivanko compression collars (olympic), i'm not sure they work any better than the cheap ones, but they feel more "substantial"."If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine

Have you ever used some of the compression collars? I never had until I got these, but I had used the ones you have and there is a difference. These are the most "functional" (in terms of locking onto the bar) collars I've ever used. I have 2 pair of muscle clamps I use for benching and squats, but they don't lock as well as the compression collars.
You're welcome.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

you have a link to em? I know i trust these with 100+ pounds over my head, and if there are better ones (that are thing enough to let me get eleven 5 lb plates on each side) I'll have to get me a pair
I checked the ivanko site and saw em. I don't think they would work for me, as I need a thinner collar than that, but for ppl who will use less weight, then yeah they would be perfect.Last edited by xephonics; 02-27-2010 at 08:50 PM.

Here are the ones they have on their page now:
http://www.jesupgym.com/products.php?cid=15
They're like in the middle of the page and called "quick lock collars", they look like the ones on those db handles you linked to.
Call before you order, if you do order, to make sure they have the metal compression band on the inner ring like this:
They've went up in price since I got them. Animal and I got 6 pair for $20 shipped!▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #4 ▪█─────█▪

The ivanko compression collars come in different widths, or at least weight. I have these:
http://www.g2fitnessproducts.com/iva...ingcollar.aspx
they're 1 3/8" wide and super heavy, surprisingly heavy I thought when I first got them. I don't use them for db's but I imagine if I did having the clamps equal 10-11lbs extra could only be a plus when space is an issue. When these are tight on your bar you won't ever worry about them coming loose.
downside is they're expensive, damn ivanko for making such quality ****...Last edited by darkfact; 02-27-2010 at 09:30 PM.

i got these on ebay, i think they were $20-25 shipped.
i used 2 pair of the collars from keetman to make a home-made fat bar (still haven't used it), and i've got 2 more pair on my olympic db handles (don't really use them either). the other 2 pair are in a box, but these collars work best on my cambered squat bar and my multigrip bar. i usually use the ivankos, but really only because they are already sitting next to the bars."If there must be trouble let it be in my day, that my child may have peace." -Thomas Paine
