I've lurked for a long time and have dealt with body image issues a lot. I also have tried every diet out there over the years. Now, I've settled into eating pretty much the same thing everyday and measuring it all. However, the scale isn't moving. I'm a 5'7 male and weigh about 176. I walk probably 20 miles a week and do resistance band training 6x per week.
Here is what I eat daily:
Protein bar
Protein shake
1lb ground chicken
1 cup dry rice
0.5 cup of a veggie
All this comes to 1800ish calories (depending on the veggies) and 160g protein.
I haven't deviated in 3 weeks. Yet my weight has only gone down maybe a pound in those three weeks.
I'm trying to convince myself the muscle I am building is making the scale stay the same but it's a hard mental battle. Ideally, I'd like to be closer to 160.
Thoughts?

My weight is not dropping either, 1 week in. I'm hungry and eating less, and exercising more. But I've also been drinking over a gallon of herbal tea each day, to distract me from boredom eating. And I'm not urinating more. So I bet I'm holding water weight now. Oh well. At least my arms look bigger.
I do eat lots of celery. I wonder if that is more calories than I realize.

First of all, congratulations on taking control of your diet and starting an exercise routine! It's great that you're being consistent with your efforts. It can be discouraging when the scale doesn't move as quickly as we'd like, but it's important to remember that progress isn't always linear. If you're not losing weight, it doesn't mean you're not making progress. You could be building muscle, which weighs more than fat.
