Upgraded Home Gym
I just bought a new rack and plates off of CL. Very pleased with the set-up. I love the racks that have the built in plate rack. Can't wait to use it.
Rack = Nautilus F2 Power Rack ($325)
Bench = Hoist FID Bench ($35)
Plates = 1040lbs of Hampton plates ($0.35/lb)
Dumbbells & Rack = 10-40lbs Hex ($150)
Treadmill = Precor - forgot the model ($500)

Home gym at parent's house
I started working on this home gym 5 years back while I was living at home with my family. Now I'm at a townhouse with my wife but am usually here on the weekends so it's still important to me and I still work on it. I have a gym membership at my work where I mostly go and I usually focus on using machines, legs, and cardio. At home my workout's usually a little different.
1) Bowflex Elite from Costco (bought early 2005) - $800 after coupon and tax
As you can see, it's not being used anymore. I really don't like it. When we came back into the house (we had to leave for almost a year while the house was being rebuilt after having a fire) I never felt like putting it together. I just found the Costco receipt today and will see if I can return this (Costco's got a lenient return policy, price you pay to be a member)
2) dumbbells from Dick's sporting goods, bought gradually on sale starting in 2005 or 2006 and using $10 off of $25 coupons to keep the price low
I really need a dumbbell rack
3) Bought this Decline bench from I think a Gym Source. It was a return or used or something and was $125. I'm not sure of the brand, I think it has a York barbell logo on it, but I'm not sure if that's the manufacturer or distributer
4) Body solid preacher curl, bought used off of craigslist. 2005? 2006? 2007? - $125
For years was just using dumbbells with this but I finally got a curl bar today (Details below, #7)
5) Northern Lights VKR Machine, bought used off of craigslist $125 - 2006? 2007?
Feels pretty stable. In my townhouse, I"m looking for a cage since I'll usually do workouts there solo (again, only so often because majority of my workouts are at work). Not sure if I would get something like this if I had a cage since I could do my pull ups off of there, but I would like to have dips and knee raises/leg lifts too.. and I'm not sure if all cages have that.
6) Nordictrack Audio Strider 990 - late 2008/2009 $600ish from sears
My dad bought this. I'm not sure how I feel about it, but usually just use for warm ups. I'd like to get a real nice elliptical one day - like a life fitness, or at least for my townhouse
7) TDS 9500 1 Mega Bench, 92512 weight tree, olympic barbell (45lbs?), curl bar(25lbs?) - $250 - bought 3/6/10 off a seller on craigslist
I picked these items up today from the same seller. He had them priced at $350 and I got him down to $250. Not sure how good the deal was for either party but I think it worked out well for me. I know this (or at least a similar modeled mega bench) goes for $350 new online. He had manuas, all small parts, etc so I liked that too. Here's another combined pic of manuals, parts, accessories, etc:
That's it for now.. will try to update this post or make an updated post once I have everything set up. I'm Working on getting a leg press too, hyper extension/hyperextension/roman chair and would like a lat pull down also.Last edited by srizvi1; 03-06-2010 at 11:55 PM.

My current setup, 300lbs of olympic weights and a sweet bench + smith rack ( i think that's what it's called). I'd like to add more weights and a squat rack + another bar and an ez curl olympic bar. Then may be a treadmill or elliptical. But as is I can do most routines...squats, bench, deads, pull downs, preacher curl, leg curl, leg extentions, cable pushdowns, incline/decline bench any dumbbell stuff. So I'm not too limited.
With a squat rack I'd have the freedom to feel a bit safer with higher weight plus I wouldn't have to keep adjust my bar position on the rack there.

Just got a Parabody 425 with all options. Just for the price of having it moved...

I thought I would update my pictures.
Just got my TV and stereo system installed this week. I took them out of my bedroom and put them in the gym where they will get more use.
Its a LG 32" TV, Phillips DVD, ipod dock, Pioneer receiver, now extinct HDVD player and my Rocket ELT speakers. I hung a short piece of black PVC tubing to clean up the cabling.
My Powertec Rack upgrade in the new jet black.
My TDS weight stand with Troy VTX plates, 5' Ivanko bars and the Rogue Economy Bar.
My old-school IronMaster DBs with shelf and platform for hardwood floor protection.
The Powertec leg press attachment.
Powertec and old-school IronMaster Super bench. The chrome version goes great with the new rack (sorry no picture). Both benches are used for my workouts.
My Smooth Fitness Elliptical. I start every morning with 40 minutes on it. I got it very cheap because of a fitness store going out of business. Great elliptical if you are looking for one.
I have officially run out of room but I can get everything done that I want comfortably. When I finish my theater room in the basement, I will move everything down there and have allot more space to work with.Last edited by fishingeek; 03-14-2010 at 08:11 AM.

Nice gym Fishing. I like the looks of the old Ironmaster Bench and the weight rack. That Powetec leg-press attachment still seems/looks weird.

It actually works pretty good. It is great if you have limited room to work with. Since I starting using it and I added lunges to my leg day, I can hardly walk after a work out. I would like to get a nicer one down the road but for as cheap as it is, it does a nice job.

A Craigslist score should finalize tonight. It includes a Powertec LS Leverag machine, 350lbs of OLY weights and some random stuff. That will give me high/low pulleys and the utility bench Next up: IMs or powerblocks.
Edit: As for the spin bike I picked that one up on Overstock, Sunny brand $307 shipped.
Double fudge Edit: I need a weight tree and some bars and attachments. The T-Bar row corner attachment is high on the misc list.Gym.....Tan.....Laundry **Georgia Crew** Newton County** ** Twinlab MILITIA member since 2014 **

These are from pics from my old Setup. I moved out of this place about a month ago and into a new house with 2 car garage. Some of the same equipment is in my new place, and quite a few extras. I'm hoping I get the stuff I want to clear out of my new garage out soon so I can clean up and post some pics of the new (more gym-like) home gym.
That being said, I made great gains in the old garage, and shows that you can still do plenty with limited space.
These pics are from last fall or summer and it got pretty crammed in there (added a lat p/d, a lot more weight, some other stuff) before I got out as well, but I feel you could grow indefinitely with just a setup like this.

Mitrovski, what is that thing on the wall with the cap on top?

Not sure if you mean the inflatable Moose head? Don't know, my sister's dog seems to buy me Xmas presents every year somehow and that was one from a few years back...ya, I'll just leave it at that.
If you mean the other thing, that's my lifting jacket...
Actually, it's just an old sport coat, it was a garage after all, so some storage of old worthless crap was still required

Mitrovski looks nice will be happy to see the updated more spacious pictures.
wolfsburg2 looks nice and the leverage gym will be a nice addition. Are you planning to have the leverage gym close to the power-rack and moving the ptec bench back and forth. The weight and bar rack fishinggeek has would look nice up against the wall where you have your plates now.
