Just got done with Calculus 3, and Physics 2. Can't wait to get to some higher level courses. I've heard that Cal 3 is used extensively in Thermo. How true is that?

UT PhD student and grad program has, to date, never required a textbook for a class.
It's weird.
My undergrad and masters was at Lehigh in PA and we used Beer and Johnson for statics and dynamics. Just try to keep a level head in exams and assume that you already the right tools to solve the problem, just need to figure out how to apply them or how to break up the problem into more manageable pieces.
In other news... last final exam ever tonight 7-10pm. Plastic design of metals. Can't wait to get it over with.D/SQ/B = 405/335/270 = 1010#
I finally made it.

The only thing I remember from thermo was my idiot teacher and his god damned moody chart. "Hey class, I'm going to give you this stupid chart that has been copied and recopied with the most ****tiest copier ever that is low on ink. And if you get the answer wrong by .5, I will deduct points."...... Lv75 trolling.

**** my electromagnetics prof, that is all
edit:
Going over what he said might be on the test, looking at his class notes he posted online/taught the class from, some of the stuff he didn't teach might be on the final. Da fuk brahs? He's normally a graduate student professor though, that's probably why he's so hard on usLast edited by Rayaarito; 05-15-2015 at 11:23 AM.

Its now been a week since finals and my diff eqs professor still hasn't posted the grades, so all that is showing up is NR (not recorded I guess)
He has also gone no contact, I have emailed him twice asking what's going on and he has yet to reply
Gonna have to sweat it out till Monday when I can call the school.

Any good ideas for answering the "What's your weakness and how do you overcome it?" question?
edit:
I think I got a good one:
My skills learned in college (graduated a few years back) may not be as sharp as it once was when I was practicing the everyday such as knowing certain equations off the top of my head or designing (somethingsomethingsomething) from scratch but the skills are still there and I have been proactive lately and going over these things to where I feel comfortable with them again.
or
I'm usually really lazy and I overcome this by upping my dosage of pre-workout during lunch break.Last edited by wowz; 05-18-2015 at 08:12 AM.

Not even at the stage of looking for a job yet (2nd year) but I really hate questions like this. Why would you ask a potential employee what he is bad at, knowing full well that he is going to lie atleast a little bit, and if he tells the truth he's reducing his chances of being hired?
Which leads me to a question
If someone asked me that question I'd probably say something like "I am a bit of a perfectionist and tend to feel that to get things done right I'd rather do them myself, and when I do things I tend to want them done perfectly, so I spend more time than I should making sure everything is okay". Would that be like... a bad response?
Its kind of true, international students have crappy english so I always gotta fix their bit of the group lab report/assignment.Don't know what to put in my sig crew

Signed up for Statics, Computing, and Engineering math (plus 2 gen classes) next semester. I cannot wait to get started. I already grabbed some of the older edition textbooks for statics and dynamics to start studying early.
Any advice on how to study, or do well in these classes?*Reps everyone who negs crew*

Brah I had my final in electromagnetics today.
Literally the only topic I didn't know in the entire curriculum was LC circuits, and OFC it appears on the finals as a 30 point question. I did 5 practice finals, none of them had and LC circuit, they just had RLC.
Welp, got -30 points on the exam for that problem. Good night sweet streak of A's in math and physics.

This.
Never studies for exams crew. Learn the material during lectures and homeworks and truly understand it when doing assignments and you'll be golden. This advice is true for every engineering course. I should know... I've taken about 120 credits worth of engineering classes (non gen-eds)D/SQ/B = 405/335/270 = 1010#
I finally made it.

By nature engineers suck at being personable. I know I really suck as far as people skills are concerned. If I don't have anything to say to a person, I won't speak to said person. If I think a person is stupid, I damn sure won't have a conversation with a person. If I have nothing to gain personally or professionally by talking to a random person, I won't talk to them. I can't make small talk and I really suck at networking. That was my "go-to" response. My response on how I would improve would just depend on what the interviewer would latch on too... Just derp a response and say fuk it.
I've since gotten better but I'm still not going to go up to a random tard and just shoot the sht... That's not how I do things in life.

It seems silly to me to study before classes actually start, but that's just my opinion.
The best advice is to read the material before you go to lecture and set aside a couple hours everyday to do practice problems, its literally as easy as that, just takes a lot of dedication to stay consistent over the course of a semester (that's my issue at least)
But if you want to crush your classes join a study group SRS. I know we are not the type to make friends easily, but when you're in a study group teaching someone a concept/ methodology you remember it for life
