I wonder when they finally start to tour again (either next year or year after) whether they will be using the pyramid or a new 'live electronic band' approach...

I have just completed my novel:
No hate but I listened to this album and there are only 3 good songs on it. Instant Crush(8/10), Lose Yourself to Dance(7/10) and the only EDM song Contact(9.5/10).
There is nothing worse than a bad song that is really fuking long. Jesus Christ my mind was blown when I listened to Motherboard. After 2 minutes I thought "Fuk I can't take anymore of this" and skipped ahead 30 second and it was still the same, skipped another 30 seconds, then forward another 2 minutes and more of the same crap. That is pure filler. They know that is terrible music and they put it on anyway.
The opening is a good example of what is wrong with lots of songs on the album, Give life back to music has an incredible intro hook, but then the rest of the song is fuking shiit srsly. On lots of the bloated 9 minute songs there are good hooks that you hear once and then disappear. I'm not going to listen to 9 minutes of shiit to hear 3 seconds of good music.
The vocals throughout the album are pretty terrible too. They always used autotune and other effects on their vocal samples but they used too much and it just sounds like Stephen Hawkings (Beyond etc). Then there are the terrible vocals by Pharrell on Get Lucky and and Lose Yourself to Dance, Paul Williams vocals on Touch which are outdone in crapness only by the song itself,
On the album version of Get Lucky, it sounds like the guitarist of the duo completely replayed Nile Rodgers' hook in his own style. It's interesting that the single version retains Nile Rodgers' original version of the hook. It suggests the record company insisted that the hit machine Nile Rodgers version not be messed with even though Daft Punk didn't really like it.
There are only enough good songs for an EP. They should have left the shiit songs off the album and they should have left the shiit bits of the bloated 9 minute songs off and just given us great 3 minute pop songs. I guess they really like the bladerunner soundtrack (Giorgio by Moroder etc).Last edited by godsangina2; 06-15-2013 at 05:59 PM.
