You can go attend my semester too . Half of my teachers are ****in awful. I'd rather stay home, watch a ten minute tube clip explaining the essentials, instead of sitting close to two hours in a class where the teacher doesn't do much else than read twenty powerpoint slides word to word. As they say, Finnish schooling system is definitely one of the best.

I have already taken a lot of engineering courses, but before I get into the purely engineering classes only part of my curriculum my last obstacle is physics 2. The worst class in the entire engineering curriculum at my school because of the combo of tough material + horrible faculty. I magically managed a B in physics 1 and learned so much about the world, but I still don't feel like I actually understand physics as much as I'd like.
So no, I would appreciate if next semester just never started. I am all for taking challenges head-on but I am heading into a losing battle. Other than that the rest of my classes should be fun.
Diff EQ is easy at my school
I am taking a hard 400 level bio class on animal behavior that apparently is really hard unless you love the subject, but I have a huge interest in animals.
Physics 2
really easy bioengineering class
I also slacked off really bad and should have gotten myself into another lab for undergrad research so I am gonna try and clutch and get into a lab hopefully within 2 weeks and have the paperwork turned in for research to count as elective credits.
Also there's two internships I am applying to
1. in Seattle at Univ of Washington, 10 weeks, free housing, 5k stipend. Would kill to do all that traveling because I have never been west of Omaha Nebraska. Would go see bruce lee monument, mt st helen, pacific ocean charter, sturgeon fishing oregon/washington border. Would love it.
2. At a university in NYC, 10 weeks, 4k stipend. NYC would be cool to experience for 10 weeks and getting to actually live in NYC. But I'd prefer washington, if it didn't happen through this internship I may never get the chance to visit there again. But then again Washington is a 30hr drive lol.Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Decided to get an early start on this semester before classes officially start next week. Spent a few hours in the library today working on mechanics stuff.... going to be a rough semester
I'm going to try and be at least a chapter ahead in both mechanics and thermo this semester. I fear if I fall behind at all in these classes I will be ****ed. The fear is real.
Good luck this semester, everyone.

Do you guys have any tips for career fairs?
Elevator speech or nah?
Importance of making an impression? Or do they just pile all the resumes together?
I'm planning on not wearing a suit, just dress pants, shoes, shirt and tie... i hear it makes you stand out a little more from everyone wearing a suit (and I don't own one).
Tips??? hehe ty men
and this is for an internship/coop as a 2nd year

That sounds like a pretty good rotation, I usually work a 10-4 which kind of sucks since I spend 7 hours driving one way to get back to Austin or wherever. What area are you working in right now both geographically and type of engineering?
I'm sure y'all will weather the storm better than us, we are canceling a decent amount of future AFE work, fracks, and are starting to leave the lower producing wells offline if they go down and aren't holding a lease or something.

Wireline, Houston area. I moved to BH and I'm an FE. Just sit in a truck. H&P is shutting OPS down in West Texas, and everyone was told the Permian would be unaffected. I got a buddy in completions over there and he's slow too. My contacts in Tyler are doing alright supposedly at EOG. Eagle Ford is slow AF overall. Normally the office is quiet, everyone was there today but 2 trucks go out in the morning, one of which I prepared with some operators because the spool wasn't braking properly.
Edit: BH/HAL let 50 go the other day in colorado, all new FE's and administration.Last edited by cncman; 01-13-2015 at 09:48 PM.

Word on the street is NOV and Weatherford are now considering merging, and GE is looking to buyout someone. It'll get interesting once SLB says fuk it, we'll buy everyone and create an anti trust war.

Be black, hispanic, or a woman. Guaranteed to get a job (srs)
Otherwise it is really hard to get an internship/co-op as a sophomore.
Most engineering programs don't start with specialization until junior year and you've probable only done the basic pre-reqs like physics and calc.
Have a killer resume (If you need help feel free to pm me it and I will give you pointers).
Most importantly, know what you want to do for the company and be passionate. (Speak with enthusiasm and smile)

Any Aerospace Eng majors/graduates in here? Yes I realize I could search, but I don't know who's active and who isn't.
Still semi-undecided regarding major. Freshmen at a JUCO, just got out of the Air Force. And if anything appears to grasp my interest, it's definitely Aerospace.
If so... any advice you wish someone gave you early on, or advice in general?
