MT, agreed, and it looked like a six-pack. 1 or 6 too many, lol.
All over social media and the networks going ape-shiit.
What matters is the AB chose a trans to be one of its spokepersons. Massive and shocking lapse in judgement.
Expect shareholder lawsuits.

Mulvaney was one among dozens of social media personalities who were sent stuff to do on Instagram and TikTok clips, something they've been doing for a while now. Mulvany made one clip posted on her Tik-Tok. It was just another social media plug by a so-called "influencer” that nobody but her followers would have seen but for the certain types of media frothing at the mouth about trans folks right now.
Either way InBev doesn’t give a sh*t about the LGBT community or they wouldn’t have been one of the biggest sponsors of the World Cup in Qatar. Companies like InBev and Disney are promoting inclusivity because their data tells them to.

Mr. 7, Mulvaney was the only trans AB hired and signed on as one of its spokespersons. Bud Light employed Dylan Mulvaney as a promoter on Instagram.
AB is trying to shift blame on two marketing execs by placing them on leave. Alissa Heinerscheid, the vice president of marketing for Bud Light, and Daniel Blake, who oversees marketing for Anheuser-Busch’s mainstream brands, are on leave.
Their data did not tell AB to hire a trans spokesperson. Hiring a trans spokesperson they thought was the trend along with the LGBTQ+ community extorting large companies into trans representation. AB took the bait and is paying dearly for it.
It was an idiotic strategic bone-headed error and I hope this is a lesson to other large corporations to not take the trans extortion bait.Helping one person may not change the world, but it could change the world for one person.

It's f*cking advertising. Of course they're going to pander to different groups to buy it. That’s why they had her post it on her Tik-Tok page for her followers and didn’t put it in a Super Bowl ad. Fox News and right wing outlets are outrage porn. This is being forced down your throat because you are putting yourself in that position.
And it’s piss water regardless of who's shilling for it."it's likely one of us will have to spend some days alone"

Nah...they are trying to normalize this nonsense. Your point might have merit if it took place in a vacuum, but it is embedded within a much larger cultural context. Don't forget, this same dude interviewed President Biden FFS...and it certainly wasn't because he had anything interesting or unique about him other than his gender identity.

You were suggesting that the only reason people might take issue with this is because they are somehow addicted to outrage porn...which might be a valid observation if this incident took place within a vacuum. I am not saying InBev is trying to normalize anything per se, but rather that this incident took place within a larger context of this idiocy being normalized... which is why people are annoyed.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

The LGBTQ+ outrage engine has never addressed why there are no women who dress like men to then participate in men's sports or anything else.
That's a pretty good clue the men who claim to be trans, dressing like women and wearing makeup and then participating in women's sports are frauds. Not to mention the parents who exclaim that they have a trans child, are sick, virtue-signaling, attention-whores who are irreversibly damaging their children for life.
Having a trans child is the new accessory fad of the smooth-brained.
Anyone who disagrees are bigots, bullied and cancelled. It is frightening that a political party supports all this with no question.Last edited by Mark1T; 05-02-2023 at 05:50 PM.

Being a parent is a pretty tough job.
My child (born male) feels that they are trans. Wants me to use she/her pronouns and has always always acted like a female right from her toddler years. I always noticed and so did everyone else. I can't say I was open to transition because when she was young I'd never heard of trans people. She wanted baby dolls and t-sets and barbies and girls clothes. I tried and tried to get her to play with nerf guns and legos like her brothers but no luck ever. She'd fight anything masculine tooth and nail. I gave up fighting when she was about 8 and just let her play with girls toys. There was no changing her. When it came to clothes I gave up the fight last year. She was sneaking make up and girls clothes to school and changing in the bathroom. This child will fight to be a girl all the way to her grave.
Now puberty is setting in and we have some serious choices to make. At thirteen she can pass for female but in a year or two that may no longer be possible. I did not know what to do because I want her to make all her medical decisions as an adult. I want her to really think about these decisions and make them with no pressure from anyone else. But she keeps getting taller and taller and her shoulders are getting wider and wider and she is panicking because if she isn't allowed to make these changes till she is 18 she will be a fairly big person (her older brothers are 6'6" and 6'3").
So I researched and read up on puberty blockers and that is the direction we will go in for now. She will be able to take pills that will block puberty while working with a therapist that will help her to navigate the choices available and to work through her feelings. I know she needs that. I have never seen someone hate and fear puberty like this. Floods of tears every time she grows an inch or goes up a shoe size. This child's greatest horror is that her body is becoming a mans body and she is trapped in it and can't get out. It's hard to discribe watching someone you love so much go through that. Being trans is not a cute 10 year old boy who wants to wear a toto. It's a thirteen year old collapsed on the bathroom floor weeping and freaking out because they feel like a freak and they can't get out of their body. It's terrifying as a parent to face this because you are so afraid of making the wrong choice and you have no idea if you are hurting or helping. And people judge you, your own family judges you. It's not a fun game to play. It's really hard."it's likely one of us will have to spend some days alone"

^^^ Being a parent truly is a tough job.
However, I don't buy that story. When I was growing up, I knew quite a few tom-boys and not one of them thought they were really boys much less did the parents go to the radical extremes of considering hormones or transition surgery. I also knew a couple of gay guys who acted feminine, but they didn't want to be girls and their parents never considered radical extreme hormones or transition surgery.
I am not a parent, but I can say that if I were, I would never ever consider changing the sex of my child. Especially if he or she were under the age of 18. Doing that should be criminal.
To be empathetic to these people who do consider hormones and transition surgery, is beyond unreal to me.
I support the gay community, but when the trans-everything and everything-drag queens came along, I have lost a lot of respect.
They hired/employed specifically a trans-person to be a spokesperson is pretty much an attempt to normalize trans people.Last edited by Mark1T; 05-02-2023 at 06:31 PM.

You cant honestly be that dense. You think the people there thought…”you know what, let’s piss off our base to try and cater to a few people who almost certainly aren’t going to buy our product anyway”. There’s a reason the phrase “get woke, go broke exists”. They can lose money over and over with terrible marketing and sh!tty movies that push an agenda, but they’ll still continue to do it. So obviously they think pushing this crap on society is worth they money they lose. Which makes you wonder…why are so many entities so adamant about pushing this crap?

Companies are sponsoring people on platforms like Twitch or TikTok because they are advertising to those groups. You still have the ads on TV for the core audience but there is still money to be made in these side groups.
So you nab a few known faces from those groups and tell them plug us next time your talking to your audience and we'll give you money. Those companies aren't making these random people the next "face" of the company or anything, just asking the people with an established voice within those communities to advertise for the company.
They don't care if you're white, black, gay, straight, trans, or from alpha centuari if new people start buying your product that's a win.
That's what happened here. People found someone who was being sponsored by Bud light and they just so happened to be the "enemy" in their eyes made a mountain out of a mole hill."it's likely one of us will have to spend some days alone"

To be honest maybe this isn't what you should tell your kids. The fishing lady from "The Perfect Storm" is now on "Deadliest Catch" she said when she was young she was a Tom boy and asked her mom "Do I really have to be a girl"? Her mom told her, "You can be anything you want". She is HIGHLY respected among the Alaska crab fishers except the one guy whom she cut his lines 25 years ago (he never forgave that). Anyway she didn't end up with a beard, my guess is because her parents didn't say "you have to be a girl".Autenic Kights Sing Heavy Stel and Hav Hands and Wriss of Steel!

So I found this interview podcast from march with the VP. I didn’t listen to the whole thing but I agree she clearly explicated an agenda that was clearly at odds with their core customer. She came across as arrogant and very hateable, which is what could have given this "boycott" legs. The media I saw saying it was all about Dylan is missing what made this thing big. It was the VP herself that should have pissed people off.

That being said she is not completely wrong in the idea that trying to appease to a community like Kid Rock fans, who know the current exchange rate between catalytic converters to Sudafed, is a dying business model, so they have to shift to a larger demographic of the young adult market and pull them from craft beer.
And somewhere between 20 and 30% of Gen Z identify LGBQT, a number that that has doubled over the last 4 years. Whether you think that number is a good thing or not, corporations are going to have to adapt to it.Last edited by 7Seconds; 05-02-2023 at 08:26 PM.

I'd have to dig up the exact quotes, but something along the lines of "elevating" and "evolving" the brand beyond the collection of out of touch frat boys who currently drink Bud Light to be more "inclusive". To that end, she vowed to rectify the horrific lack of "representation" in the ad campaigns... which she cited as a goal independent of actual business results. In other words, not exactly a dispassionate objective analysis from a business perspective.
I am guessing that AB hired a young female ad exec because they thought she might be able to understand and market to younger people more effectively -- not realizing that a Venn Diagram encompassing the experiences and views of a typical Bud Light drinker and that of an affluent female Harvard grad would essentially be two circles. If this were just about reaching young people by partnering with social media influencers, she could have easily done that by choosing the dozens of other influencers that aren't a centerpiece for one of the most controversial social issues of our day. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to see this might not go over well with the current customer base.It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.
-
05-02-2023, 08:45 PM #175
I am not sure that the way to reach them is via direct appeal to their sexuality, but what the hell do I know?
I think you nailed it in the last sentence of your second paragraph. I don't think Bud Light is in decline because they have overlooked the rainbow crowd...I think it is because the market is flooded with much better products and more choices...whereas years ago, you were drinking piss regardless of which brand you chose. If you have more than two nickels to rub together, why, under any circumstances, would you choose Bud Light?
EDIT: If I didn't still have you on spread, I'd give you reps for the catalytic converters/Sudafed line.It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

7, you are saying that AB is merely just advertising to those fringe groups, i.e., LGBTQ+ and Trans. Yet, the effect has been a catastrophic $5 Billion+ loss in stock value as a direct result. Kind of proof that they fukked up really bad and AB’s main demographic revolted and justly so. By the way, that loss is getting higher every day with AB distributors going broke because their networks of distribution are drying up. Shareholders are not happy and many more will drop AB in a cascading event to cut their losses.
So, this is much more serious than you are trying to convince us.

This has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but for whatever reason I wanted to share it and it doesn't deserve it's own thread, so thread hijack yes... but you can go back to weird clown world again afterwards
This morning was only the 3rd time in my life I have seen curls in the squat rack (being performed seriously not as a joke) with an Olympic bar and 5kg bumper/training plates. The rack was free anyway and it didn't disadvantage anyone or do anyone any harm so I have no problem with it. But I still can't help feeling WFT???
OK... nothing more to see, you guys can go back to the thread agian

I wouldn’t consider the LGBQT community a fringe group. But yeah the Mulvaney thing brought attention to the interview the VP did, and it was the messaging in that which was toxic. It revealed a brand that wasn't just interested in trying to reach out to different people, but one which was doing so because it looked down upon its core customer base.
Not sure they're gonna elevate Bud Light, but disassociating it as strictly for frat boys and your uncle the contractor makes more sense than, "let's put rainbows on it because this is the zeitgeist culture war issue that's gonna get us on the side of the kids".
Still, I would think that much of the 20% drop in sales is temporary because businesses are seeing the anger, anticipating a reduction in sales, and ordering less, and they will rebound once the story calms down.
