GREAT GAY OFF 2013 - London Pride Update...New pics, New stats and officially 12 weeks out from Pride. Im still too wobberly BUT I have lost alot of lard and put on a good bit of muscle since we started. Im still no aesthetic looking guy but I think Ive made good recovery and progress from the lard bucket I`d become 6 months ago. Woody - not so much commitment and progress but - hes got 12 weeks to get better from a much better base frame than me - so he could still pull it off. Ive got a feeling I shoulda made the wager a little larger though. 12 weeks too look good in short shorts. Can it be done?
MAY I BE AS BEUTIFULL AS THOSE i DEEM TO BE.

You've made excellent progress, muscularity is obvious and you are looking leaner. I guess it's crunch time for you in winning and achieving. Stay motivated and succeed.

Good job Misti. Don't give up - dedication is half the battle.

Since we're talking about our fitness, allow me to share my own update. I'm doing the Kris Gethin 12 week trainer for the third time, and this is the best one yet. I'm actually less hungry than the previous efforts, and my lifts are much stronger. Sleep is good, cardio is good. And I will also be ready for Pride weekend. Conveniently, the diet ends a couple days before, so if I consume any fat at the end, it won't have time to show. It goes to Connecticut in the meantime. I have also entered the BSN Summer Shred competition, and we'll see how well I place in it. My goal is to get below 10% bodyfat this year, and I'm sitting at exactly 17% right now. Got lots of time, and I will get there one way or another.

    Nice! Solid goals right there!

I am training for a 545 mile bike ride in June, so I'm having to pick between endurance, stamina and strength. While training 3 weeks ago, my chain got stuck to my rear wheel and I fell going up a hill. Nothing major, but I managed to get a hairline fracture on my left radius and have to wear a brace for 4 weeks. Only 2 more weeks to go but I have had to stay off my bikes and no upper body work for me.

I'm taking the time to focus on lower body, core and diet to try and lower my body fat while I heal. I figure I'm at around 16%, and I don't think I've ever been leaner than 15%, so it would be nice to get down to 10% and then work on a bulk. Cycling indoors is boring.

Where are you going on your bike trek? Cycled from Canada to Mexico a couple of times and did the San Fran to Mexico last summer. Bike trips are awesome.

It's the AIDS Life Cycle, and we are riding from San Francisco to Los Angeles over 7 days. I did a much smaller one last year around Sacramento. 330 miles over 4 days, and it was a blast. Now joining the big ride with another 3499 riders.

Have a great time. I'm not a big fan of cycling in a large group. (actually the most I've traveled with is 5) This past summer it was just me and my 19 year old son. We always have a blast, the trips are unsupported so we carry our own gear and camp out along the way.

    Thanks!

    That sounds like fun!

I usually avoid big groups of riders. I prefer to be by myself, even when participating in a big ride like this one, but it's nice to know there is support along the way. The nice thing about the big group is getting together at the rest stops or at the camps every night and morning. You get to meet a lot of people from all over the place, and that's what I enjoyed the most.

Meeting people would be fun. The entire pacific coast was designated as a bike route and they have special campsites called hiker/biker sites that you share with other cyclists. My sons and I have met many people that we have become friends with from these campsites. And interestingly enough the first person I came out to was a female friend we had met during the 2004 bike trip at a hiker/biker site and she had come with us for a part of the 2008 run. So there at a hiker/biker site at Cape Lookout Oregon at about midnight sitting around a campfire I whispered the words I'm gay.

Oh nice! How long do these rides take you? I just noticed that you bike to Mexico too. That's amazing! Do you go into Mexico or just all the way down to San Diego?

When we cycled from Vancouver BC to Tijuana it takes us around 45 days. Again keep in mind that this is on fully loaded mountain bikes not road bikes. It always about spending time with my sons so speed isn't critical. As far as Mexico goes by the time we've gone all that way there is no way we aren't at least crossing over the border.

The first time we rode the entire coast it was just me and my then 13 year old youngest son. I didn't really believe we could do it but my son kept telling people we were riding all the way to Mexico. So by the time we got to Tijuana there was no way we weren't going on over even if it meant having the bikes stole. As it was everyone was very protective of us and even now when we go to Tijuana the shop owners remember us as the crazy gringo bikers.

Speaking of distance after that ride in 2006 my older son got sick of hearing about this trip and so he raised the stakes and he and my younger son then age 15 flew to Anchorage, Alaska and with no support and rode to Mexico. I met up with them in Vancouver and rode the rest of the way. I'm pretty proud of my sons don't let anyone tell you that us gay guys can't make great dads. In some ways I'm just your regular dad who likes adventure. My sons are both very much outdoors men and are very good with repairs. ( I still have never fixed my own flat time lol). I think it was a good mix my sons are both heterosexual and are have learned to be self-reliant and will to take on challenges hence the 4500 bike ride from Alaska. But they also learned that a man can cry and doesn't have to be void of emotion and that musicals have their place. : )

Dude that's very impressive! Anchorage to Tijuana on a bicycle is nothing short of amazing! I always thought people doing it on a motorcycle were roughing it, but on a bicycle, wow! Even Vancouver to Tijuana is very impressive. I've lived in Tijuana and still drive down there often, it's nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be. I'm sure the people there will remember the crazy gringo bikers for a long time! hahaha

Oh trust me, I have no doubts that gay men can be great fathers. We are just as human as heterosexual men. I would love to be a father, and I would love to adopt in the future. The boyfriend and I have talked about it and depending on where we find ourselves in a couple of years (and what the legal status is by then), we will seriously consider it. This reminds me of how pissed I am at CA for passing Prop 8. I got married to my then ex when it was legal for a few months in California. Sadly, he wasn't the right person for a long term relationship so I had to get a same sex divorce too! LOL Taxes were a bitch to get done, I really hope the Supreme Court strikes down DOMA.

That doesn't sound like it's going to last very long. Maybe make the best of the job, save money and then quit when you're completely fed up and take some time off. I know some old college buddies who worked for drilling companies and they did not last long. There are some jobs that just have a very high turnover rate.

I love San Diego. I've been living in the area for almost 10 years. It's not too big, but it's still very gay friendly despite being mostly conservative due to a big military and retired community, but everyone gets along pretty well. L.A. is only 1.5 hours away (in a perfect world with no traffic) so big events are not too far away. Tijuana is only 20 minutes away (a big plus for me being Mexican), and the weather is fantastic, you can't go wrong with average temperatures between 60 and 70 year round.

It is of course coastal California, so living expenses are higher than other places, but like other cities, you can find spots that are a good combination of affordable and nice.

Yeah, I was very surprised to find this one gay thread. It's difficult to get what people mean on a forum, but, there are definitely a lot of homophobic comments all over. I wonder what would happen if one were to call this out.

Absolutely nothing! Their will always be closeted haters spewing self loathing comments, who will eventually be sucking or taking c0ck up their arse I like to think of it as as "one those phases that they will grow out of".

I wouldn't be surprised if most of those guys using the "*******" term were actual "*******s" themselves in real life. It's ridiculous and very immature.
