dude real estate doesnt happen in a week
it takes months to buy a house. with a real estate agent. its a lot of work.
trying to coordinate thousands of people over the internet takes time. no one miscs full time, we all have jobs/ school/ real life issues to deal with, so this will just happen gradually.
getting a lawyer, real estate agent, and all the other required things for real estate purchase will cost money and time. IMO if this ever happens it will be no less than a year. and as long as bb.com doesnt go anywhere, theres no rush
the island HAS to be in the states
lots of space - not for partying, for more land ownership
if you want to actually go to this island. figure that stuff out later, because some people just want the investment and some want utility. once the island is actually purchased, then you can discuss that
right now its a whos in whos out sort of thing. we need to spread awareness and just let people see what its all about. when dealing with nearly a million dollars we'd need a contract to protect anyone who contributes. the ads from the website can possibly be used to get a stable contract.
just a side thought here
when it comes time to contributing, I think it should happen within the span of 1 week, no more. that way no one has their money in for weeks or months. get everything together, secure all the necessary funds, then take action. easier said than done though, lolLast edited by 2 HUGE; 03-13-2008 at 02:12 PM.

he was on that t.v. show today...he's been selling islands for 30 years and sells about 1 island a week.....he might be able to help us out tremendously as far as making this happen....

Shouldn't we pick the island first then the contribute fees????. I feel some will contribute more for one island, then say another. I know I will. Im not going to give money to an island that is going to cost me 10 thousand bucks to get to everytime I want to go to it. I also want to know what is going to be done with the island. I think we need to figure the land first, then the money.. I may be wrong, but that's how Im looking at. Im looking at it from the investment and having fun point. I don't want to invest insomething that will be destroyed after the first Misc party. lol

the problem with that, is everyone is thinking different and looking at this different....so for every 5 people that agree with you there is 5 people that dont....if i started a thread about which islands to pick, which was done, then people say we need to see how much money we have first....the way im looking at it is, how are we gonna look at an island without having any idea if we even will have the money for it or not?? Doing it the way it is being done will at least give us a ballpark range of how much of an island we can afford.....and when the time comes, to pick out an island, and your not happy with the island, then by all means, dont contribute, i will completely understand....and im sure others will as well....

Random thoughts...
Since this whole thing is very likely to be Internet legendary, maybe we could get a lower price on the Island if we got the website we buy the Island though a bit of publicity.
We need to establish a general idea on which island we're gonna purchase. I'm only interested if the Island is in North America and is reasonably accessable. I see no point in picking an exact Island right now, mostly because there is a very good chance it won't be available by the time we go to buy it or maybe something much better will come a long and the arguements will begin.

When everything is set up for the contributions to start we could maybe see how high everything gets within a month and have a pretty good idea of what kind of money we'll have. Then we could start looking for Islands in that price range. Narrow it down and take a vote. Once the Island is decided, keep the contributions open for a while longer, then purchase it.
But yeah like I said, we'll need to make a decision on what qualities the Island we do purchase definately needs to have well ahead of time.

Lets be real here, we are going to buy an islang for 18 million dollars. Im sure we can get in the ball park, of what we can raise for one. That is why I say, we pick the island and see what we can do it. Lets not get the most $$$$ one and be left with nothing do on it. I think we need to set up a budget, like say 1 mill for the land and x amount of dollars to start it up. Not just all the money for the land.. I think we need to get a base idea of the land and price, then go from there. Yea, it's nice own a Ferrari, but without money for gas, it's usless. That's what I see happening here.

please read more than the first post....alot has changed over that last 40+ pages...
when you go to buy a house......whats the first thing they ask you....how much are you looking to spend???...whats your price range???....thats always the easiest starting point....it's true there are alot of expenses that go along with an island, and we are all starting to look into them....
mine too...
