only on the misc. irl indians are nonstop obsessed with race. hell, they even discriminate against other indians based on their geographic location. i always see indians talking **** about each other for being dark as hell or punjabi or whatever the **** else. never seen a group of people more obsessed with their race than indians.

Won't deny that doesn't happen actually. A lot of it is done by north-western Indians, Punjabis, jatts etc, I'm from the same region.
Their culture is built on being loud and brash, southern Indians are generally more traditional, mellow and intelligent. Usually cuz the ancestors of most punjabis/jatts were farmers who toiled in the fields or soldiers who fought battles while southerners were usually into education. Apple don't fall too far from the tree apparently

The fact that he is the first of Indian descent is what this is all about. Lol @ people that hate. "he's indian who cares, cause its indian owner, his body eww, shaq is better"
Seriously? It's his first 10 days in the NBA, people are happy because he is the first of Indian descent, that is all. Lebron and Carmello were both skinny twigs when they first got into the NBA, after years of nutrition and all the good benefits of being a professional athlete helped them reach their current size and get the physique they have now.“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” - Benjamin Franklin

I am Indian myself, born and raised in the U.S. I'm a Pistons fan through and through but the Kings have always been my #2 team due to family connections and now this. The owner is Indian and even though this entire thing is a publicity stunt I'm still happy to see a fellow Indian make it to the NBA. I doubt he will amount to much in the league but he will be hailed as a hero in the Indian community for his entire life even if he never plays a game after his 10-day contract ends. Good for him.

I'll join in on this. I am north Indian and only half Punjabi. Punjabi culture for the most part is about fun, partying, booze, etc. especially for Sikhs. Hindu Punjabis don't party as much but the culture is still similar. At every party/engagement/wedding etc. the Punjabis always get into drunken fights by the end of the night. I was just at a college Indian party last week and they started a fight after. That's why south Indians, who are generally more conservative, dislike Punjabis. South Indians care more about family, religion, education, etc. and view the brash mannerisms of Punjabis as bad.

What white and black brahs dont realize is that for the longest time the only person we could relate to was ****in Apu from the Simpsons. Indians are pressured and brainwashed into thinking they can only become doctors, engineers, or lawyers. That's why when we see individuals of our own ethnicity follow their passions and do well in things which contradict the traditional path, we become excited and inspired to do the same.

My Indian friend was obsessed with bend it like beckham growing up. His whole family cooked up chicken curry and took me to watch the movie at a drive in where they danced and sang songs like a Bollywood film.
I didn't get the movie, it's about an Indian girl who wants to be like DB and then her teammates help her confront her lesbianage to her parents??San Diego Brah
