starting up that dere squat every training day regimen myself
I walk around 6 miles a day up and down hills just getting to my classes (srs). Hitting 4-5 sets of 8-10 paused rock bottom squats. If I don't have 20 inch calves and mountainquads by December I'll quit lifting.

To be fair, Elliot Hulse admittedly sucks at Snatches and has been posting those videos for others to critique and help him work out the proper form. I've never seen him try and pass off any information about that lift in particular and everything I've seen from him about deadlifts, squats, and such (things that he claims expertise on) seem pretty decent.
I like Candito's channel too. I don't know anything about the other guy that was mentioned.

Would you guys say that learning the Snatch has much carryover to other sports based on your experience?
I have only a very limited knowledge of these things, but I've met a lot trainers and coaches and 99% of the time, good or bad, they don't have very much technical understanding of something as specific and complex as the snatch. My own reasoning for this has been, with movements like the squat clean and squat snatch, it seems like taking the time necessary to learn proper technique wouldn't pay off very much in the way of performance for many other sports, when that time could be spent on other sport-specific training, and this must be why most trainers, coaches, etc haven't taken the time to develop an understanding of it.

I'm not sure what you mean... I'm implying you shouldn't learn the Snatch unless you take the time to learn the proper technique, but that takes a lot of time and patience for one specific move that may or may not have a worthwhile payoff for most other sports. I think you took that bold part out of context.

shiiet, clarence and milko are coming to my country and the city I live in, I must see them! I feel like a fangirl right now!
also I believe it is possible for me to volunteer in the competition, volunteer as a helper (I presume it's carrying/swapping plates, directing people etc). would be cool if I could get training footage of some great lifters.Last edited by Ensix; 08-28-2013 at 05:14 AM.

You know he's a strongman and not a weightlifter, right?
You know he can deadlift 300+kg right?
No respect for S&C unless they have a profound knowledge of the oly lifts?
I guess Ed Coan was just some nobody then, I got over my 'OLY > ALL' attitude a long time ago, I think it might serve you do the same, just saiyan.'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'

Yes, I'm aware that he's a strongman. That doesn't excuse having gross mobility faults as a supposed high level S&C coach.
No, I have no idea what his max deadlift is. But it's not like each kg over a certain amount makes up for a lack of experience in another area.
Correct, I have no respect for S&C coaches who don't have profound knowledge of the Oly lifts since they are some of the best tools for creating speed, agility, power, strength, timing, and flexibility.
Ed Coan was one of the best powerlifters of all time, FYI.The best Weightlifting forum on the web:
