Roger that, I didn't mean take them off, just mentioning the combo I use for TT. Also forgot to mention the ISM saddle for aero position. If your perinial gets numb, this thing works really well. Looks a little goofy, but whatever works.

exactly, the only time its not a value is if you dont ride it, and the more you ride the more appreciate a nice bike, subtleties mean more and more as the hours accumulate..

on riding in the heat... pre hydrate and hydrate about 16oz an hour min... I use the electrolyte tabs but have started added a tablespoon of salt to my drinks, kind of screws up the taste but it seems to be my best defense against cramps. Ill be riding long this weekend, ill try to note my total water loss...

Got a question for you roadie brahs .. regarding saddles and ride position.

Ok, I have some cheap Specialized saddle that came with the bike and its fine, until i go into the drops. When i do this, the shift in position puts lots of pressure from the front of the saddle on my prostate area.

I looked around as I was sure I'd seen saddle that had a drop nose, and these Selle SMP saddles look like they'd be perfect for sliding forward in the saddle and getting in the drops.

Does anyone have any experience with them, and if they think that will solve my problem. Or is my position the problem?

Also, are there other manufacturers producing a similar product at a lower price point?

    Cheers.

Yes, ISM Adamo Road saddle. You should be able to find them on ebay for 100 shipped. You could also check the saddle swap on slowtwitch or bikeforums. Tuning fork saddle takes a few rides to get used to because it puts all of the riding pressure on your sit bones.

Eat at an olive garden in Nebraska. Eat at a mom and pop restaurant in Italy.

Nice bikes are light, super light. They're super stiff, maximizing every ounce of power you put out and transferring it all to the road. They're great at soaking up road chatter, the components work smooth and flawless. Shifting is immaculate and butter smooth. The geo is more aggressive and aero. And they're fuking sexy.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One you can put thousands of miles on it for years and with regular maintenance can be a family heirloom.

I looked around as I was sure I'd seen saddle that had a drop nose, and these Selle SMP saddles look like they'd be perfect for sliding forward in the saddle and getting in the drops.

    .
I love my SMP forma (230gm), its has zero padding but it lines up with my sit bones perfectly and creates zero pressure on your perineum which is essentially your taint and pathway for lots of blood and nerves... I love these saddles, they aint cheap so find an LBS that carries demo models you can ride for a few weeks before making a purchase, or wait for mine, I may upgrade to the full carbon..

Thanks for the info. Have you seen the full carbon at 105g .. lol, my current saddle weighs 322g, that's quite a weight saving .. however they're £480 over here, which is probably about $750 .. ffuuuuuuuuuu.

IF you're selling, PM me, however the carriage to the UK may make it prohibitive.

    Hey guys,

been looking at getting a road bike for a while (a current mountain biker and dirtbiker) and looking for an entry level road bike. Through my own research on this thread and other forums, I have found for my price range (around $1,000) either the Felt F85 http://www.feltbicycles.com/USA/2011...eries/F85.aspx or the the specialized allez. I will probably not be racing, but hopefully will be doing 60 mile rides once a week with shorter sprints spread out during the week. I am looking for feed back on whether to buy online or at LBS, I am going to test ride both this weekend to see how I feel on both. Any other tips for a new guy to road bikes would be greatly appreciated!

Depends on how good your LBS is. If they have a good group of people, good mechanics, good fitters, it's worth the extra money. A lot of times when you buy a bike, they'll give you discounts on accessories like pedals, shoes, saddle, shorts, et cetera. Most good bike shops you can haggle a little bit too. Plus it's fun to go in and talk shop, find group rides, exchange routes....you get the idea. Just be sure to do your research and try to ride as many bikes a possible, a lot of times at the LBS it's <insert brand name product here> or nothing.

Looking at that bike, it sort of has an odd mix of components. 105 derailleurs and cassette, Micro.Shift brifters, FSA crank, unnamed brakes, KMC chain. Not saying it's bad, but it might be Frankensteined together to keep the cost down.
