But if he gets his weight more in his heels and keeps his shoulders back more, shouldn't that reduce the tendency to GM? I have long femurs too and am struggling with some kinda similar issues (yes, at about a quarter the weight, shut up) so in for answers from the smarties in here. Also what was the consensus about the probable effect of having your elbows way behind you? I do that too.

I have no idea what Garland is. And with the new IPF weight classes it will be weird. Do I compete 242 in state meets and then 231 in national meets? Or 220 and 231? Or should I go down to 205 eventually? I'm all confused and when I get confused I eat cookies lol.
Haha, nice. Welcome.1372 @ 205

Garland TX bro, like 2 hours from Oklahoma. I'd imagine most of the meets you go to will be in the DFW area.

Oh, no. USAPL Oklahoma just started so I did a meet in OKC back in November. Also, I'm probably moving back to Florida.
Yea, I don't know. I would assume that eventually they would turn every meet under IPF into the new weight classes just to make it easier and not confuse people. But I guess it'll take some time. And then I guess the old records will be frozen and you they'll make new records for the new weight classes.1372 @ 205

2/9/13 - OPERATION SHAZAM 2.0 WEEK 6 DAY 1
CLOSE GRIP BENCH PRESS
225x1
255x1
280x1? (I guess I got confused and hit the same weight twice)
280x1
285x1 (10 lbs PR, honeybadger tried to misload me but I caught his cheeky ass)
MORE CLOSE GRIP
225x6 (Paused)
225x5 (Paused)
225x4 (Paused)
225x2 (Paused)
DB SHOULDER PRESS
75x4
65x6
65x6
TATE PRESS
45x6
45x5
45x5
I caught honeybadger's attempt at misloading 285 just before I did the lift but I didn't notice the 275 misload till just now when I watched the vid. No wonder I flared so hard and form looked like sh!t. Still got a nice 10 lbs PR. Bench feeling good. Got some heavy deadlifts tomorrow!
EDIT:
Apparently first 2 sets were correct and I actually did 280 twice and then did 285 for the 3rd set. I have no idea why. I guess I thought I had done 275 and wanted to go to 280 but I had actually done 280. I was more focused on honeybadger maxing out so I probably wasn't thinking. Oh well, I got my 285 which is all that matters.Last edited by arian11; 02-09-2013 at 03:11 PM.

2/10/13 - OPERATION SHAZAM 2.0 WEEK 6 DAY 2
WEIGHT 227.7 LBS
HIGH BAR SQUAT
135x5
225x5
280x5
DEADLIFT
295x5
335x5
385x5
445x3 PR
FRONT SQUAT
135x2
225x1
275x1
300x1 (5 lbs PR)
PVC ROLLED MID/UPPER BACK
I set the gold standard...in how not to lift. Lower back feels like it's going to break from deadlifts and biceps feel like they are going to tear from front squats.1372 @ 205

I'm telling you, you need to take week or so off, or at least deload on deads until you can come back fresh with a bit less weight. Setting new PR's every week doesn't mean anything if you're progessively hurting yourself more and more. Check your ego at the door and start doing chit right.
