I'd trust what this guy says but after he claimed treadwell was a bust I stopped reading. How In the world do we know he's a bust? For all we know he's the reason why treadwell never saw the field. Didn't play to his strengths and just decided to throw him aside which I'm betting is the case.

I'm sure treadwell is something turner and zimmer disagreed with. Treadwell is basically in the same spot as Patterson is/was. Patterson got benched when zimmer/turner took over because his bad route running and poor practices. Now it sounds like those are the same reasons Treadwell hasn't played yet. The next couple weeks should show whether it was norv just not using him or if it's zimmer that's making him earn playing time like he did with Waynes last season.

The offense will still struggle to move the ball, but the point people are trying to make is:
First and goal at the 2 yard line, you have a terrible offensive line, 3rd string running back, and a 6'6" TE that leads the team in TDs over the past 3 seasons. Do you think it's better to run the ball up the middle a couple of times or just throw a jump ball to Rudolph and let him try to out jump the other guy? I think most people except norv would choose the second option.

Maybe cause the Vikings offense isn't talented
It's obvious Zimmerman is forcing Norv to call the game more conservatively. He's a defensive HC that wants to play in a run heavy ball control offense, he wants his D to get as much rest as possible.
When Norv was in SD Rivers would throw it 500 times a season

You're not hearing me man. With essentially the same group, if not better, each year, Norv's offense has declined every year he has been here. Tough to blame him for all the injuries this year, but his gameplans have been lacking to say the least.
The "best" OCs in the league's offenses don't get worse every year with roughly the same talent.

I won't totally disagree with you on the offense not being talented. They are not the most talented offense in the league but scheme is holding them back. I hope we get to see by how much soon.
Zimmer is/was not forcing Norv to do anything. Norv had 100% freedom of the offense. Zimmer said he would make suggestions here and there but that's all they were, suggestions. Norv likes to run a offense that the Vikings are not capable of running because they do not have the talent (See comment above). Norv likes to power run the ball up the middle and take advantage of play action to stretch the field with a TE and a deep ball guy. The Vikings have no line, we all agree with that. So they can't run and they can't pass protect long enough to hit the deep ball. Sam is not a deep ball guy and the Vikings do not have a pure deep ball threat WR. Diggs is decent going deep but he is not a true deep ball guy. The offense needs to be changed to favor Sam and the oline which is west coast offense.
Bottom line, Norv's offense did not work, we have seen it and tried it for 2.5 years. He is too stubborn to change his ways. Football starts with the QB, cater to his needs first and go from there. Catering to Sam's best qualities is short intermediate passes. This isn't rocket science.
I don't know about you but when I do something 150 times the same way and it doesn't work, I like to try something different.

yeah that makes sense. i admit i dont watch viking games, that last game was the 1st time i watched them this season besides highlights. if he's that stubborn and bad then yeah make a change...
but i rly think they should have made a trade for an O line and just solidify that chit. look at the raiders, they started with O line and now everything is falling into placeLeMagic LoMagick

Zimmer is a not BS type of guy, I trust what he says. Fast forward to 2:50 "Since Norv has been here I've given him almost 100% total free will in everything they have done offensively, obviously I'll come in and make suggestions but there really has never been a time that I've demanded anything from there"

Zimmer is not a offensive coach, he is 100% defensive. That's why he brought Norv in. Zimmer wants a guy to take control of the offense just like Zimmer takes control of the defense.
I'm not buying anything less than Norv had 99% of control over this offense.

Did you never see the Dallas offense in the 90s? He pretty much made Emmitt Smiths career cause he was a very run heavy type of caller. His offenses deprive off a take the top off receiver / gunslinger and a versatile running back also a decent very good O Line. Nothing the browns had and teddy isn't a gunslinger and our O line is mediocre so yes with his mindset in the 90s we were bound to fail and it was finally starting to show. In this offense we need a west coast offense quick passes, jet sweeps and screens. To take pressure off our Line. 3 - 5 step drops isn't cutting it with the way our tackles can't hold down a thingMisc Photography Crew

Norv was always known for doing great things for running backs and having his QBs play solid ball and not having them go crazy but he's not stupid, he'll try and coach based on the strengths of the team.
I was so pissed when San Diego hired him as HC because it totally fuked the 49ers since it was very late and there were very few candidates left to take over for him.
He was responsible for Frank Gore's best season as a pro and also helped Alex Smith improve big time from his rookie season. I think if he would've hung around Alex's career with the 49ers would've been way better than it ended up being.
Guy can definitely coach offense...he was just a mediocre HC tho.

I wouldn't say he's done an 180. When he started with the Vikings he had AP and a rookie QB. Kinda common sense to run the ball. Then anyone who watched bridgewater knows that he will simply throw a few yards to his check down rather than take a chance down the field. Maybe that's him, maybe that's what he's told. Regardless he could call the same offense he did in San Diego but he can't exactly choose who the QB throws to.
