Okay, so I can't believe I forgot about this, but I have a Heavy Seas Peg Leg Stout. It's not a russian imperial stout, but nothing is anymore; it is, however, an imperial stout nonetheless. It's pretty much the best stout I've ever had, regardless of alcohol content; it's quite smooth, not too alcoholic tasting, slightly malty sweetness not too hoppy.
As of right now, I am drinking a Sam Adams Imperial Stout for the first time, just for you (pics to come tomorrow)
It has a big malty nose with some alcoholic overnotes. The taste is immediate malty sweetness and alcoholic notes with a small lingering coffee aftertaste. A slight taste of hops also lingers, probably a weak hop breed added pretty late, I'm guessing Fuggles.
It's not bad, but I definitely prefer the Peg Leg.

I let the Sams sit out overnight and am finishing it now. The nose and taste become more alcoholic and chocolatey; it's almost like a chocolate type of wine or lower proof liquor. Definitely not bad, but a little too alcoholic tasting for my palate.
I missed Pyramid brews

A very good summer beer.

oh man, you dont know the half of it. I'm actually basing a novel on some of the events that occurred. The **** turned out so bad it was damn near surreal.
I like basically everything from Pyramid. Right now I'm drinking Rollick, which is an Amber Lager with 6% ABV. I've never tried their IPA though. Recently had their light summer beer, I think it's called Curveball, and it was nice. A good hot weather beer.
We still need to hook up, I've been preoccupied the last 6 weeks though with getting stories together for submission. Weird how the real world kinda takes a backseat when you're wrapped up in imagination land.

last nite i had Stone's (brewery that makes arrogant bastard) IPA and didnt like it, too hoppy (tasted even more of hops than Hazed and Infused does) and flower/fruit tasting aftertaste. I never like these kinda beers all too much, i just had to get an ale 6 pack to split with this girl so i figured i'd try something new.
I also got a 4 pack of Samuel Smiths Imperial Stout which was decent, I think beeradvocate gave it an A-
Thx for the recommendations above on the Imperial Stouts guys

this one really intrigues me as its made in CO so i should be able to find it very easily and it has the high ABV content as a russian imperial stout should
beejs-I was so close to buying the adams i-stout last night when i opted for a smiths instead as they sold them in the individuals
peg leg sounds good, ill have to find it and give it a shot!
thanks again guys, and btw this has gotta be my favorite bb dot com thread

Just had one of these...12% ABV (Scaldis)
its a crisp brew with no aftertaste, though it does have a strong alcohol flavor (not overpowering)
I give ita : B
Now I'm drinking a Long trail Brewmasters Double IPA: 8.9% ABV. I am not enjoying this beer at all. It tastes like I just licked a pine tree air freshener
I give it a: CTeam Iron Horse Powerlifting - Sponsored by Genomyx
APA & RPS Powerlifter

So I went out and got the Avery Czar Imperial Stout, it tasted really unique at first and then just more and more chocolaty just as all Stouts i enjoy do.
It was $7 for a 22oz bottle, cashier claimed they dont even make them in 6 pack...which may or may not be the case
Anyway, their 11% ABV, so they pack a potent punch compared to many, somewhat justifying the price.
At the end of the day for me, I would just as rather have a breckenridge oatmeal stout for 8$ a 6 pack than make a habit out of this Avery brew as it just really wasn't that much better for me.
Maybe I'll go for the Rasputin one tomorrow night.

This Weekend's Brews
Went to the Foodery and threw together a pretty sick 6 pack, drank in this order:
First: Victory Whirlwind
Good brew. Not a huge fan of the wheats, but this was a pretty standard one from a great brewery, needed to give it a shot.
Second: Sierra Nevada Tor**** Extra IPA

Big fan of this. I have been getting more into the IPA's and this one sure did deliver.
Third: Smuttynose Old Brown Dog Ale
Pretty plain brown ale. Safe choice, nothing wild here.
Fourth: New Holland Brewing Co. Golden Cap Saison Ale
Recomended by a friend. Spicy wheat taste.
Fifth: North Coast Brewing Co. Old Rasputin Imperial Stout
Awesome, awesome imperial stout. I have heard a lot about this bruiser and there was some mention of it on here, so i got it and loved it.
Sixth: Weyerbacher Insanity
Could not be more pleased with this barely wine. Extreme, intense hit of flavors that almost confuse the palate. Far and away the best beer of the six, would drink again (and again, and again).
Stout of the Weekend: Fort Collins Brewery Double Chocolate Stout
This was a good chocolate, not great, certainly not bad, above average. I was very satisfied with this stout as it was recommended to me to have one of the strongest chocolate flavors of the choc. stouts. I would compare it to Brooklyn's Chocolate except with less coffee tones and not a big alcohol taste. Overall I give it a B, for delivering with the chocolate flavor.
I would recommend to anyone to try the Insanity and the Golden Cap Saison if you can get your hands on them.

Yeah that Whirlwind was a treat, but not a huge fan like I said. Continuing with that Brewcrew though, Victory's Storm King Stout...that **** is a force to be reckoned with. After a sixer of that, top 5 worst hangover of my life.
Absolutly epic stout for the seasons though.
EDIT: While Im still in here, has anyone had a chance to try Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout? I hear some great things about that one.

****'s great. I just never drank more than one or two.
I've noticed that it's hard to find, but a bar around here has it on tap naow
truth
Guinness from a can= still pretty nasty.
Guinness from most bars= tastes like something I would use to get wallpaper to stick to a wall.
But Guinness from a good Irish pub= still dog****!
