Every time i've gone in to buy condoms i just go to a cvs or rite aid and go straight to the condom section and pick out what i want then i ring it up, i never buy anything else with it because i'm generally buying them last minute...
Hell sometimes the girl i'm about to hook up with comes inside with me and we both just stand there as i buy the condoms.

I remember the first time I bought condoms was at the only gas station that was open 24/7 (small town). The guy at the counter was a 50+ year old friend of my dad that went to the same church as us.

The condoms were behind the counter which made it even more awkward. He started small talk and during a pause I said "hey, can I get a box of Trojan condoms". He said "like condoms condoms?". It was awkward as fuuuuu and I just nodded and didn't say anything else.
