Have been in the hospital. Got some X-ray scans and my spine is still in good condition.
Havent take the MRI cause the symptoms are unclear but i think i have muscle strain in my lower back which is annoying AF.
Any exercises that would relief the ache in my lower back.

Yeah thats a pretty normal amount. I probably take the same amount relative to my bodyweight. 200-300mg when I lift if I'm feeling ****ty.
During my high school rugby days my coach was really not big into using any sort of pain control of that sort (NSAIDs, even tylenol), so we had to be sneaky with it. Its just one of those sports where youre going to be hurt and feel like **** for the majority of the season. If you want a starting position you gotta deal with your pain in whatever way possible. Though I've never gotten much out of tylenol.B. Kinesiology

Help me get brownie points for life guys. I plan on taking my GF to see Taylor Swift and I just entered this contest for front row tix and meet and greet. This would probably make Jessica's life complete as she has been a fangirl since she was like 12.

Well looks like we'll be adding a new division to powerlifting! How exciting!
Wonder if this will mesh with raw w/wraps and we can have a Raw, Raw w/supportive device (Knee wraps/slingshot), Single Ply, Multy Ply

50% raw sounds amazing. dont have to worry about getting good at gear and just lift more weight lmao. AND you oculd just say its because of bad knees, shoulders, and callus tears.

Took me a while to respond to this, but the only actual studies I've read that suggested ibuprofen hurts muscle growth were terribly implemented, though they were in actual journals. Quite a few studies have shown the opposite. Link me to the precise study you're talking about; I'd be interested to see if it is the one I read. If there have been studies conducted reasonably that suggest ibuprofen hurts muscle growth (not protein synthesis) then I'd be interested to know about them.
EDIT: Also, as someone who has worked on a publisher's committee editing college textbooks, I can tell you they are by no means immune to serious error. After all, they're just tertiary sources.Last edited by breathinglife; 10-08-2015 at 01:26 PM.

any downside to ibuprofen, toxicity?

I think we're talking about different things here. I'm more referring to recovery of acute injuries (i.e. tears, some strains/sprains), as opposed to muscle gain.
I feel like the one you're thinking of was specifically on muscle growth in general. I know there was one initially that found that protein synthesis was decreased with the use of NSAIDs, but a follow up study found that it made no different on the addition of lean body mass. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
And I will agree with the textbook comment.
There are a bunch of studies that do look at its effect on your stomach/GI, but I haven't actually read through them. Idk about toxicity.B. Kinesiology

Hey guys, anybody get pain on your collar bones when benching? I don't have pain during the lift but after. I perform the lift and once i rack the barbell i feel like my collar bones are going to spontaneously explode, it goes away after 5 minutes though.

Some of the most effective creatines also decrease total protein synthesis, yet are great at adding LBM - they do this by reducing the amount of muscle-damage (protein breakdown) which in a great enough amount, results in more total lbm gain even if the protein synthesis is slightly lowered (e.g. Net pro. syntheis is higher) - something along these lines could be the case with ibuprofen, I mean obviously not via the same mechanism of action but you get the point

Inflammation is the body's natural healing response, it is a necessary evil. I think too many people go overboard trying to keep down inflammation when they should probably just man up and deal with it. I can't be bothered to look into any studies that may be mentioned in here but taking NSAIDs regularly for long periods of time is not good for you and shouldn't be necessary.

You wont have stomach issues unless you are highly prone to ulcers, or are taking a high dose and drinking alot of alcohol at the same time.
Kidney issues if you are taking high doses for long periods and arent hydrating properly.
The body likes to overreact with the inflammation in response to heavy training loads, and western diets don't help either. No one is reccomending 2+grams per day of nsaids, but 1-2mg per lb of bodyweight as needed isn't going to hurt whatsoever, and if it improves your training quality there will be a net positive effect.
There are many substances that some lifters take regularly and for long periods of time with side effects much worse than a little bit of nsaids. Depending on who you ask, those arent "good" for you or necessary either.
It's just another tool in the tool box.Last edited by 308smk; 10-08-2015 at 04:47 PM.
