Sadly, its the new trend. Now adays everyone wants the abercrombie model look a like. So most movie stars look like that. And there is no way in hell any of them could fit the role of bad ass.

WE NEED a new van dam
WE NEED a new Bruce Willis
WE NEED a new Segaul

That's really interesting because there already are a decent number of balls out action movies. Anything with Jet Li, Tony Jaa, Jason Chatham all fit the description. I think what Rambo better symbolizes is a hero. Modern action movies don't have heroes, they seem to go and defeat their enemies whilst enjoying their BMWs, and supermodel wives, etc. Rambo and Rocky are hardcore. People can associate themselves with the characters. Rambo is a ****ing badass who is more interested in justice than some cash and hoes. I honestly don't believe we have any modern Stallones, Schwarzeneggers, Norris', Willis', Samuel Jacksons, etc. Like I said, I believe that the closest we have to that today would be Jason Chatham, but IMO it isn't the same.
I want to see more people wielding unceccesarily large guns, fighting villains over an absurd and far-out plot, in crazy and uncharted terrain, making hilarious quotes that make light of the massive amount of violence and slaughter. I want heroes without emotion who will shoot a mother****er in the head, and call him a choir boy in the process. The type of hero who lives in a secluded cabin and is called apon when his country needs him, not a guy in a high rise apartment, driving his mercedes around and always talking on his cell phone. We need a ****ing hero.

a lot of those movies were far from senseless.
Rambo 1 was about an ostracized Vietnam war vet who lost all of his friends in battle, came back to an unwelcoming society, and got pushed too far by some assh*le cops. the story was pretty deep, actually.
Rambo 3 was a critique of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. at the end it says "dedicated to the valiant people of Afghanistan" or something to that effect.
The Terminator movies were all about fate and what it means to be human.

What about "The Rundown?"

I've always thought Commando was Arnold's baddest azz movie.
All the guns and firepower he had on that island - he took out an entire South American mercenary army.
Still an awesome movie - over 20 years later.RIP Dad

Ye well you understand what I meant. Didn't mean the movie was senseless more the violence. Was just there because of the sheer amount of awesomeness it brought to the movie. Nowadays they would cut it all out and add a sex scene instead.

I watched the 1982 Rambo movie last night.. Rambo: First Blood.
It was good but a little annoying. I want to see an action movie where the hero is willing to murder people in cold blood.
Like in the forrest Rambo let all the cops chasing him live.. and his traps only maimed them. He should have killed them all... and when he hijacked that truck he threw the guy out instead of killing him. If he killed him then he could of got away instead of having the whole country on him.. a real action hero is smart and willing to kill at all costs.
Anyone know any movies like this?

i beg to slightly differ. critics hated 300 and hate rambo because its politically incorrect ie too masculine and not liberal in nature to push liberal hollywood values. also, theres 1000s of "socially conscious" movies that they push on the public that hardly do $100 and they still produce 100 of those films a year.
no one liked brokeback except the critics. everyone loved 300 except the critics.
