Supercharger / Turbocharger. Which do you prefer? Which sounds better, etc

Yeah it'll open when feathering. But not when full throttle. It opens on vacuum.

I hate my wastegate vented to atmosphere. Can't hear anything while into boost. Hoping it gets quieter if I up the boost. Sounds like a ****ing school bus caught fire and the kids are trapped inside.

My ride had dumped wg with a foot long pipe on it. Always wanted to route it back into the dp but never got around to it.

Thats clearly WG. BOV won't be open when full throttle...

I don't consider myself an FI genius so sometimes I question myself when people say something different. Starting to think I need to stop doing that.

Edit: I'm trying to find out why so many people dump it to atmosphere before I route it back into the exhaust.

So far some people are saying it causes a turbulence in the exhaust and the turbo has to work harder to push the exhaust out. Guess it can make spool slower and reduce HP.

What if I just ran the WG piping out past the rear end. That would solve most of the sound. Wonder if that'll have an effect on power.

No vids. Been msg'n everyone I've met in this town if they have a go pro. I'm thinking about pulling my LS2 and selling it. Heard people saying I can get $2500-$3500 for the long block? If thats true I might just do it. Swap in a $500 5.3 with some rod bolts and max out my turbo.

The extra money could come in handy in a few other areas of the car.

The way I'm thinking: if you're downstream of the downpipe, the turbo doesn't give a chit. It's not like an NA motor where you have exhaust scavenging. The turbo fuarks that whole process up.

Well I guess it would back pressurize up to the turbo? I guess it matters how much you're sending to the turbo vs sending through the wastegate?

It shouldn't pressure up the turbo if you reconnect the tubing correctly. You should Y the gate pipe back into the exhaust.

Both can sound awesome but turbo has far more potential. Supercharger is great for up to ~20% more power over stock (sound right?) especially for power down low in the power band.

Turbo/TT/tri-turbo+ = chu-chu-chu-chu and capable of near limitless power.

Now twin-charged...is awesome and super rare thing to hear/see. The first ever factory car with it was some late 80's tiny Toyota hatch (name escapes me right now) came turbo'd and supercharged. Unreliable no derp but when it was running it was damn interdasting.

20% more power? Not even close. My old mustang made 265hp NA, and with 8 lbs of boost from a procharger made 396hp. That's a wee bit better than 20%.

Hellion power systems makes a compound boost setup for the 03-04 cobra. A turbo feeding the factory blower. Pretty sure they do the same for GT500s and ZR1s too.

It could also be when the turbo spins the wrong way and makes a nasty noise

Please enlighten me on how a turbo can spin the wrong away.
All the heat and gasses that spin the exhaust wheel we all going one way. It doesn't magically just reverse.
Maybe you're talking about compressor stalling?

I want to believe. I don't doubt your car is fast and I'm jelly as fk but to really double your hp running only 9psi. Was that a race gas tune maybe? Did you do a before/after dyno run on the same dyno? Etc

With 100% Efficiency you would need 14.7psi to double NA hp.

turbocharger you use the exhaust gases while a super charger is actually using the torque produced from the engine.

I do. HKS 60mm wastegate and 4 inch straight pipe from downpipe all the way back. I dont notice the wastegate that much. Cant hear the turbo spool plenty fine and dem twin HKS SSQV's.

I know his car, its beastly as hell. And yes... it makes the stated power.
