Scary **** brahs. 3 ambulance and 5 police cars blew past me on my drive to work. Thought something happened at the airport but saw them all head toward Clackamas and my mom texted me telling me about the shooting.

Its sad that a majority of Americans feel that there is a need to protect themselves with guns. in a reasonable rational and sane world where all these random mall shootings dont occur then yes. but we dont live in that world. if 99.9% of people with guns were sane and there were 50000 gun holders in the country then there would be 50 insane people running around with them.

I know here in the uk the only shootings we get are between rival gangs who obv get their hardware illegaly. Maybe once in a blue moon theres a psycho who picks up a hunting rifle and goes on a rampage

I agree 100%, and am a proud gun owner. It's just that these threads and stories always spur a ton of "It wouldn't have happened like that if I was there and carrying" posts from internet heroes high off their white knight fantasies.

a world without guns would be a better place. yes, killers would find an alternative weapon, but that alternative weapon, a knife, is far more difficult to go on killing sprees with.

You could not ban guns in the USA. There are 300 million firearms here and people would fight to keep them. There has to be another solution. I personally think people should be subject to a mental evaluation before being able to purchase one.

Because firearms are not the root of the problem, that's why.

People's depravity and selfless desires is what causes crimes and violence.

So why try and attack the tools rather than the mechanic here? No matter how many times you try and change the tool set, your car will end up breaking down after you leave the mechanics garage. Its not until you change mechanics that you will see results that are acceptable.

So instead of trying to ban firearms, we need to figure out why people are going out and committing mass shootings in the first place.

so tell me the usa and some other countries have nuclear weapons. Should the UN decide that every country is allowed to have a nuclear weapon to be able to defend themselves from a potential attack? or should there be reason that if you put a nuclear weapon in certains countries hands they might act irrational lets say iran might decide to attack israel.
