for sure. I have an appt with another artist from the lowrider tattoo family (lil b; robin hernandez) at the end of august. he learned from the same artist/mentor as jun (jose lopez). lil b does similar work as jun (statuesque, sculpure). I'll post up some pics once we're finished.

I just had some work done on the entire bi a few days ago. tons of black and shading done on the inner bi (3 hrs total; about 1 hr on inner bi). it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but definitely more painful than the outer bi.
I have a rib piece going in a couple of weeks. I'm a little worried about that one as the artist likes to go 6+ hrs per session. it should be intredasting.

That feel when you cant get a response when sending him an application. Feelsbadman.
I am going to give it one more try because he is my#1 right now to get worked on by. tweak my ideas a little bit. If no response. Have to move on sadly. He is at the top of the chain of that style, so I dont know if I will get same style by someone else. Think if he cant take me as a client head to Barcelona and switch styles, still B&G, but go Japanese/Asian, and have Nicklas Westin do my work. Basically a free trip to Barcelona if I do that.

I don't have an inner bicep tattoo but I have one on my outer bicep and it didn't hurt that bad. I would imagine inner hurts more just because it's a more tender area (doesn't get sun exposure, etc.)
+1 on this. The back of my calf, especially up into the back of the knee area almost made me cry it hurt so bad haha. Usually the outlining hurts a lot more than the shading. I guess they use a thicker needle and go deeper or something...all I know is the outline session was torture but the shading was bearable.
Thanks man! I'm two $250 sessions in so far, should have the background (moon, clouds, landscape, etc) done in one more session. So all together it should run me around 750. The artist's name is John Rippey. He used to work at Classic Electric in Frederick, MD, but then he moved to Great Southern in College Park, MD. I'm not sure where he works now since it's been so long haha.
edit: just looked him up, he's at Good Life Tattoo in Akron, Ohio.++ Positive Crew ++

My 3/4 phoenix sleeve that was done 2 days ago, first session done, at least 2 more to go, will be colors. Elbow was alright, didn't hurt as bad as I thought, inner bicep near the arm pit hurt a lot though.

For you guys that have more elaborate, "non-generic" designs: do you get someone to design them before you bring the to the tattoo artist?
Basically I have something that is kind of complex, unique, etc. Something you couldn't open up a portfolio or tattoo book and say, "looks like this, but make a few tweaks." I need someone to draw it out so I can see it on paper. And I'm not good with art or anything, so it'd be tough for me to draw up. What do you guys do? Find artist friends? All of humanity's problems stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.

The consultation is not the actual session, you don't have to go through the wait list for that. Why don't you just go in and talk to the artist, but if you are waiting 6-9 months I would wait a while before I go in because it doesn't take them long to draw something up. Then again you mentioned that long wait list, so you're gonna have to time that. Best you can do is go in and talk to the artist yourself, everyone works differently.
