EDIT scotland benefits from the barnet formula. however, if we were independent none of the north sea oil and gas revenue would go to westminster. that dwarfs anything extra we get from westminster. massively. now, the oil and gas is finite but theres a few decades left yet and the expertise in engineering in this field gained over the years wont go away. there is a feeling up here amongst many that we are having that oil and gas revenue stolen from us. the reality is more likely to be that england would suffer severe financial consequences if scotland became independent and kept all that money here.

The majority of city dwellers are idiots. However a lot of scots outside of citys are nice as fk. Lots of pretty alpha farmers srs they ****ing love whiskey

The Irish dont hate Scotland at all. Although sectarianism exists in both Scotland and Northern Ireland the Irish generally seem to view Scotland as their "celtic brother" and struggling friend against the imperial British machine aka England.

As for England, all the countries on these islands hate us and many have an inferiority complex against us. Many English people (undeservedly) have a superiority complex against these other countries. England is by far the most populous and wealthy of these countries as London is the economic center of the UK. This leads to anger and sometimes jealousy from the surrounding countries. It also leads to ignorance and arrogance on behalf of the English who often ignore the achievements and contributions of these other countries. England is generally viewed as the imperial, evil and arrogant bastard (historically this is true).

The Welsh arent too keen on the English either yet are more understanding of the benefits of being a part of the UK. Whilst they accept themselves as a part of the UK, they can still be fiercely nationalist and rejecting of many things English.

Although there may be differences...Ireland, Scotland and Wales can unite in their general dislike of England.

I dont believe the UK is sustainable. I believe it's only a matter of time before Scotland is independant and Northern Ireland is reunited. After this, Wales and England will no longer be the same "kingdom".

Rather than enjoy the prosperity of being a strong unified nation, many of us would rather be insignificant small nations due to petty sibling rivalry.

In an ideal world we could reunite Ireland and have it as part of the UK. We could wipe sectarianism off these islands. We could have a STRONG united kingdom between all these countries based on a common culture and history, working toward respect, economic prosperity and fairness for all of us.

Unfortunately the utter stupidity of our ancestors and formers means this is not possible. Too much war and hatred exists. People in these countries will continue to hate eachother and want out.

And I agree you have the North Sea oil, but that's the only thing you have for you of real attraction (good scenery is counteracted with endless rain). they also want independence even though 50%+ of their taxes are paid by english citizens meaning their country would go bust if they did gain independence because more than half of scottish people are on government welfare.
