in my opinion, who you are>where you're from. The whole race/ethnicity thing is just silly in my eyes. There's nothing wrong with being proud of where youre from or appreciating your culture, but beyond that in my eyes can be the start of being ignorant/hating other cultures cause youre putting yours on a pedestal. Bottom line- you get in that cage it doesn't matter what color/race/country you represent....everyone can get hit, taken down, submitted.

Didn't read the whole thread, but....
It's just a marketing ploy (much like the whole countdown show itself lol-I usually giggle and say "gotta love the hype machine" after every one) to get more demographics into the UFC. Mexicans in So Cal at least are die hard boxing fans and spend a good amount of money on it. MMA is starting to pick up, but with Cain being as proud of his heritage as he is and being in a position to maybe get the title, the UFC see's an opportunity to play up to that national pride. Not sure if it's true (although i doubt they'd put themselves in a position to get trached like that), but if it is...cool.
Oh and Pride is waaaay different than Power, ya know?
Brown, Red, Black, Yellow, White pride doesn't bother me (why not be proud of your heritage? I am), just not over anyone else. Power means that yours is the "better" race/culture. And that's just crap.
I know dudes that have white pride tatted on their bodies, but aren't anywhere near racist (they've actually been attacked by folk and had to defend their tats. Pretty awesome when a black friend jumps in to defend their white pride tatted bro against another black man). **** I have both Am. Indian and my Irish clan symbol tatted on me and all it means is that I'm proud of my ancestors and relatives and what they've had to endure for me to be where I am. And now so many of you are hoping that Cain Velasquez get's his face smashed in, because he said that he's proud to be a Mexican-American??? Honestly, the build up for this fight is actually kind of boring, because both fighters respect each other, neither is one is doing any sort of trash talk.
So it will probably be a great fight.
