There are some surfers who just dedicate themselves to riding big swells. You have to get towed in via a jet-ski lol.....
But yeah, the current + force of the wave colliding on my head would be enough to deter me from doing something like that.... not the mention if you got caught on some coral.... dayum !

that picture of the wave just reminded of the nightmare i had last night. I was stranded at sea with a ridiculous storm going on.

They arent anything like tsunamis.... thats why people ride them :P
The breaking point of those waves is far from shore, and to get "ontop" as it looks in that photo isnt as death-defying as it seems, because the wave doesnt start that high, and different parts of the wave break differently at each part of the wave, so you can just paddle onto the flat part that hasnt broken yet, then you get beyond the wave..
Saying that though, i wouldnt like to duck under one of these bad boys like some surfers do, the forces underneath the wave would probably swirl you around something fierce...
