Well for one, hyponatremia due to hypervolemia is life threatening.

For two, diluting the electrolytes (Na+) will decrease contraction at the NMJ (decreasing strength).
Obviously some people are OCD about water consumption against all the evidence in the world (pu39....the CL's guy above), similar to how some people overconsume vitamins (again, against all the empirical evidence in the world). It obviously comforts people who try to leave nothing to chance, and drinking too much water is not a real issue 90% of the time.
Even the biggest water nazi's on the planet, the US military, have significantly lowered their water-intake levels.
