war's will be fought no matter what champ. its the way of the world. But what is supposed to make the US, Australia, UK etc etc great is their democratic system. That system is shown to be severly undermined by this, which is why there is so much hype over it.... its not even so much the documents importance in the long term (they themselves will be unimportant in the years to come), its the question brought on about just how free we really are.

as for the sweden extradition, i need to elaborate, what it is is that if he gets extradited to sweden, his extradition to the US will alsmot inevitably follow, and the subsequent blood bath. Thats what his worried about.

Why do you think the government doesn't have balls to do the same to Fox News, CNN, NYT, WP, BBC and every other major media outlet that has published any of the information that Assange released? Probably because no one would let them get away with it, but it's pretty easy to demonize one lone guy...

I am not saying it's right, the OP quoted a senator who said he should suffer the death penalty. The court could do that. Should they? No. I don't agree with all the law of the U.S., I'm just stating that the senator he quoted could legally push for it.

Nothing is true; everything is permitted.

However extreme these measures may have been to make our gov. translucent(at the very least), they were necessary. The means by which Assange reached his goal were ok because he knew that the US wouldn't hand out any of their corrupt dealings/mishaps on signed "Federal pounding in the ass prison" confession documents. The Senator was not talking about Julian Assange. He was talking about the American citizen who leaked the documents. You cannot legally push for treason against Assange in the U.S.

So are you suggesting that in...

"Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere"

this means that owing allegiance and levying war are mutually exclusive to eachother? That one can levy war without owing allegiance and be charged with treason?

People are allowed rights only when its convinent. Why allow this man his rights when he cost others theirs. Same concept with prisoners. He is a threat to society and is thusly being treated as such.

this is all that is wrong with the world, and this event is highlighting it. There are so many things wrong with that statement champ. The point is that the rights of a citizen should 'never' be taken away unless proven guilty of a crime under the laws of that nation. He has been proven guilty of no crimes.

I agree. I love my country, but some of the things the government does, I do not agree with. I for one do not support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan even though I am in the military. I do not support the gun control laws being proposed, or some of the tax laws being pushed.

LOL bet you would be screaming like a biatch if someone took away your rights.

I thought that was part of what we were fighting for.
