So this week is deload week for me, had been feeling weaker and weaker and more and more tired and less and less recovered by the next session.
So I decided to take a deload and back off to go forward again next week I hope. Weight has remained steady this week as a result.
Had a DEXA scan done on Monday and was very happy with the result. I'm making good progress.

rough month. first stomach bug had me out for days not bad respitory infection has me out a week. diet is off, no workouts. I will have my work cut out for me hard after this!!
this helps me.
x2.
the mental limitations are harder to break through then the physical ones. it took me years to learn this.
example, i was reading about not having the strong mind may be hindering ones physical strengths. so i tested this with something easy. tricep pressdowns. i thumbed through logs to see what weight/rep counts i was working on. i focused on this pressdown as my major movement for the day. i counted reps but tried to not let the reps control me. not only did i beat the reps i crushed them. it was something like rope pressdowns i was working up to 80x20 and this day i did 90x27. in my case the # of reps were a barrier for me so i pushed them out of my head. if im training for size i believe more in blood flow so this works. strength/power i would tackle this a bit different but the same.
i then moved onto other isolation exercises beating all them then i moved onto compounds. to me isos are easy, the compounds are a whole new level so i started with easy and broke through my mental barrier to help work towards my physical ones.
this ultimately led me to breaking a 405 press into 455 which i thought id never do. id try it with squats but with disk herniations i rather not. now leg ext, damn this is a hard one to break through. the lactid acid build up is a toughie but i am slowly breaking through using drop sets and rest pauses.
i dont know, something to try, it worked for me.
now i do this thing on my last set where i ask myself "did i leave to much on the table?" if the answer is yes i sit back down for another servings.
remember train smart. pushing through barriers can hurt.Used to be fat, now just fat with a lot of muscle.

You can definitely psych yourself up, but it's probably a safer approach to "own" your current PR. Say it was your 1 rep pr, I would work in 2 sets of it the next time you hit the exercise and ramp up until you can comfortably hit 5/6 reps. Some days you may not be able get all 5. But when you can hit that number even on a not so good workout day, you will be pretty confident to bump the weight up. Admittedly this not a very exciting approach but probably help longevity and many more PRs in the future.

I don't know if it was my meal before tonights workout or the switching back to a previous pre workout sup or just being pumped from the visual progress I'm making, but tonight was INTENSE! I had more energy, more umph, more of everything! I now have the ( very slight but still present ) arms showing some vascularity at all times, not just during a pump, and even though tonight was arm/upper body night.... the veins in the quads were feeling left out so they started poppin'!
I need to stay up late tonight so I can sleep in tomorrow since I am starting my night shift, but when I come down off this high, I'm gonna crash like a mofo! Still pumped!OBF 2014 Winter Transformation Challenge 4th Place finish...

Hoping to hit some weights then cardio, it will be only cardio if grandsons come over tonight. Cant have 3 sets of hands around the plates on the weight machine, That was a bad experience.
Cardio should be good. getting warm and humidity is high.@EmmittSmith22: Circumstances may force you to change your short-term goals. That doesn't mean you can't stay focused on your long-term goals.

Hang in there dude... I hope everyone is ok and gets well soon. I have felt your pain... I won't go into great detail, but that is sorta what drove me as my latest motivation for my lifestyle change and transformation. Basically in the last 14 months my wife spent 3 months in the hospital and in-patient physical therapy for a broken hip, I lost a son ( still born ), my daughter broke her thumb and just last week she broke her ankle. My insurance company hates me.....

Did HIIT today on the treadmill. Been a while since I've chosen that method. Now I remember why..
Tomorrow I'll try HIIT burpees... I wonder which will be worse??

Sometimes there is a very fine line between "just having a small cheat meal or snack" and "completely going off the rails". Came close last night to completely going off the rails when somebody started dishing the cookies and cream ice cream. Somehow I was able to enjoy my first (small) dish of ice cream in 9 weeks and not go completely crazy. That's not like me. Normally if I cave in a little I'm done for.

Portion Control and a "Healthy" Relationship with food
Remember FOOD WILL ALWAYS BE THERE
Think about your decison before throwing it down your throat.
While its great to eat big, there is a fine line that may take away all your progress in 1 meal from over gorging.
Sometimes to fix a problem you have to take it head on to fix that. Just think food will always be there, having 5 slices of pizza wont be better tasting than the first 1-2 slices with a law of diminishing returns.
Live and learn, move on and remember the past and also take what happened and remember it for the future to correct it!

Wow week 10, time flies.
Had a bad cheat night on Saturday.
Too much food & drink. So no cheating till next Saturday. Got to get rid of the bloat from last night by April 4. That will be our wedding anniversary but we are planning to celebrate on April 5.@EmmittSmith22: Circumstances may force you to change your short-term goals.
