    I do believe excess fat shortens the bench ROM, and if you are talking fat you can get some squat help from your pot belly running into your thighs at the bottom. Of course, it also seems that a lot of fatties just don't squat as deep and that muddies the waters.

    Yeah, I am aware of their bellies helping them out of the hole. I sent LIME a PM so he can come in here and tell us why benching becomes easier for fat people. I recon it's because of better leverages.

    I think it's more ROM than leverages, although I have seen the leverages argument made...personally, IIRC, I decided that having more muscle is what really gave you a leverage advantage, more fat not as much (srs). Something about most of the excess fat being subcutaneous, thereby not really changing the angle at which the muscle acted across the joint the way having larger muscles does

    Okay, when you get under the bar and get it on your rear delts, don't you feel like the bar is crushing you? That's what I meant would be harder for a smaller person like Daniel. A fat guy's torso would be like a pyramid, easily stabilizing the load.

    I've been under 565 multiple times for quarter-squats from the rack, so it's more about overall leg strength for me. My back is by far my strongest aspect.

    I slipped a disk and within weeks I was back at deadlifting. Like a man. That's the ****ing problem w/ the south, they never teach you how to work thorugh shiit.     Frequent and heavy deadlifts, rows, heavy shrugs, and weighted pull-ups.

    Possibly Bob Peoples?

    His routine was to train 4x per week with 5x5 on squats and overhead presses, and max out on the deadlift each session. First man to pull 700+ at 181.
