    Thanks fella! Did you see the deadlift the page before the bench? Not nearly as much of a grinder but it was a milestone

    Hah yeah when I get that big arch going on the bench and really dig my heels in on a hard rep like that, the lower back gets a nasty cramp. It was worth it to hit that rep tho

    Friday 11.2.2012- Deload Sesh


    Quick and easy today. I would have done this early in the week but the head cold has had me down. Felt good to get under the bar today. I ramped up and hit some quick triples w/ 70% on squat and bench just to grease the groove before the good sh!t starts again Monday!

    BW is down 2-3 pounds due to my lack of appetite while being sick. Was sitting at about 203 this morning. I'm sure once I get back up to my usual calorie intake, the weight will shoot right back up.

    (used 70% of my next 5/3/1 cycle max) Felt strong but a little off. I think the cold and stuffy head through my balance off a little bit. Belt felt loose too- I guess the few pounds i've lost this week came from my belly

    Thanks big guy! 8-10 weeks then A week off except for 1 light session seems to be working awesome for me. Right about week 8-9 my motivation starts going down and I feel tired a lot. After a week off I'm ready to kill it again!

    Every 8-10 weeks seems to be the sweet spot for a deload (deload for me is week off with 1 or 2 light sessions)

    Just looked back at last year's lifts at about this time-

    Squat- 300x1 max (250 4x4 worksets for an early november session 2011)
    Bench- 260x1 max (215 4x4 worksets in late Oct 2011)
    Dead- 405x1 max (pulled in Sept 2011)

    So I've definitely added some poundage in the last year, especially to Deadlift thanks to the Hudson program last spring. BW was right around 190 in Nov 2011

    Bit of a workout today unloading wood into the basement! My old man brought down a trailer full so I'm all stocked up for the coming winter.

    It was a good visit, I hadn't seen him in a few months. He lifts a little bit (usually lifts a lot over the winter then not so much when summer gets here and he's busy).
    He told me his BW is 142 and he's been benching about 175x1. Not bad at all considering he's almost 60 and doesn't really put a lot of time into it.

    I still had my bench set up in the rack from yesterday with 210 on the bar. he unracked that and did a negative. It was pretty controlled for about half of the way down then it took a free fall for the last little bit onto the safeties lol I'm sure he could put up some bigger numbers pretty fast if he put in a little more time, but I think it's cool that he at least does what he does

    We've got a pretty good setup for getting in to the basement. We'll take one of the windows out to pass the wood through and load up a wheelbarrow to haul it to the woodpile on the other side.

    Woodfires are where it's at! That's one part of winter that I'm actually looking forward to
