The problem with that thread is that they make Sperrys and Polos out to be a big deal. In real life, people wear polos and boat shoes ALL THE TIME. It's nothing special.

The idiots who post in that thread think wearing these "normal and ordinary" clothes will make them look special/stand out. They overdo it and end up looking like idiots.

Instead, all they'd have to do is buy a dozen polos, buy a few shorts, buy 1 pair of shoes. Spend 2 seconds wearing polo, spend 5 seconds wearing shorts, and as you're walking out.. put your shoes on. Bingo.

I've been wearing these clothes since I was 14. It's nothing special. I wear them out all the time because to me those are normal-people clothes. I look good in them because I don't make a BIG DEAL OUT OF IT.

This One hundred times over. That's just how everyone dresses where I'm from. It's really not that big of a deal. But maybe I was the same way in college. They all seem to be in college.

I've made posts there. But they mostly go unnoticed. You could try to tell them about terry cloth, or how all those "preppy" merchandisers are just riding on Vineyard Vine's coattails. But no, they will just keep going on about some croakies or something.
