Well that's what makes me think that it's not herpes. and over the the last 2 months we've literally been together every second of the day. Also, all of the herpes info seems to be really contradictory. Doctors told her that it can lay dormant for forever and then come out randomly. Not really sure what kind of advice I can give you OP. There are a few scenarios that could have taken place.

Scenario 1
She had herpes but no outbreaks for a long time
Never told you
Had an outbreak
Acted surprised
Might try to reverse it on you and say you cheated

Scenario 2
It's not herpes
Life goes on

I was thinking scenario 1.

She probably contracted it before you and her got together.

From what i've discovered there is no blood test for herpes..... so really the only way to know if it is herpes is to wait around until it happens again and get it cultured. So it keeps me in a really crappy spot because i dont wnana leave her if it isnt herpes.

But yeah her gyno is like an old dinosaur so i dont trust her diagnosis and think a second opinion should be sought.

Based on what i saw when i looked at her vadge, it really doesn't look anything like pictures on the net i've seen of herpes ( and yes i know those are severe cases). But it seems really really really minimal.

However, this you should know:

There are blood tests to determine the specific herpes virus a person has. Waiting until the next "outbreak" is a very foolish plan.

Swab tests: If it is positive, then almost 100% she has herpes. If it is negative (inconclusive), she MAY STILL HAVE the virus.

What you described does not sound like herpes. Physical manifestation of the virus is usually very specific and very predictable (by a good dr.).

I had a scare a couple years ago so I did a lot of research. I also was tested 3 times after that and talked to 3 different doctors about it. They can do blood tests. Over the course of a year I got blood tests to test for the antibodies and was negative every time.

The worst thing about the herp is the socal stigma and uneducated people. 90% of people tha thave the herp dont know they have it because they will never have an outbreak......thats why it gets spread so much. I would venture to say that if youre sure your gf didnt cheat......she probably already had it and didnt know it...or had a previous outbreak that was so minor that she didnt notice. The people that do know they have it might have 1-2 minor outbreaks a year that only last a couple days. Eventually your immune system fights it off enough to where it will stay dormant forever. THe pictures you see online are extreme cases used to scare people.

She went to a doctor who tested her/didn't know what it was/thought it might be herpes. She went to a different doctor and it turns out it was just a yeast infection. Perhaps a second opinion would be a good plan?

you can get a blood test done at your normal dr. dont need to go to the gyno for that. they write up a script of what you want tested for, you take it to a lab and have the blood work done.

if you have ever had a cold sore in your life, you have HSV1. HSV2 is that bad one. Theres a normal range on the blood test. if your number is within that range, your fine. if the number is higher, it means your positive for HSV2.

bad news OP. if it is indeed herpes and this is the first and second outbreaks that means she recently got it. i am pretty positive that there is always an initial outbreak or two before ones body gets used to it and the virus stays dormant and or subsequent outbreaks can go unnoticed because they are rarely severe.

unless, she is under some serious stress affecting her immunity the fact that she got it in back to back months also supports the idea that it is a new infection. but you arent exactly in the clear either. how are you sure you weren't the one carrying in the virus? looking and feeling healthy does not mean you weren't infected.

There is blood work. If you test her for hsv 1 & hsv 2, it will show up if she has herpes, and you may need a follow up test. It could be anything from a pimple, something else possibly minor, possibly herpes or god knows what? If she gets cold sores, HSV 1 is definitely going to show up. Request blood work for her and yourself. Not sure if a Pap smear checks for herpes. I am pretty sure, it does not in Canada under pap smears. When I had a STD scare, the girl checked out negative for all things tested but, herpes was not one of the tests. I did multiple piss tests this year. Usually, for herpes, they do visual examinations. Ducked a few bishes the past year with HPV. One brod gets VAGINAL SCRAPPINGS for her HPV/GENITAL WORTS.

Few things have me scared. These are one of them. Even worse, HIV is something to watch out for as well as aids.
