THoughts on draft prospect coming out
I really dont think it hurts his status at all. Teams go with players who can play and will continue to. I understand he is the first to do this but I really think people are making it a far bigger story than it is in this day in age. If anything, he will face less ridicule as a rookie from his teammates because they don't want to be labeled as bigots. The only thing that may impact him more is opposing team's fans jeering. It sounds like if a lot of people already quietly knew (his teammates, everyone at the college all star games, etc).
Now we will just have to deal with the incessant coverage of him by ESPN, NFL network at the combine, etc.
Having a little hard time believing Smart. Me thinks he tried to use the N-word exuse to get out of the trouble he was in. I don't see how that fan would have used that word sitting right next to some African Americans, and no one else in the crowd heard him use it.
Smart should be suspended more because you just can't go into the stands no matter what someone says. If someone did use that word he should notify officials/security to get it straightened out.
And now Smart has just put all opponents fans on notice that he can be easily rattled and NBA teams that he doesnt handle losing well *when he would most likely be going to a really bad team).Founder of MMDELAD

So lebron says w/o a doubt his Mt. Rushmore of NBA players includes MJ, Bird, and Magic.
Then he would put Oscar as #4 (but HE himself will replace Oscar).
What a JOKE!!
1. How can you have a Mt. Rushmore without Wilt (most dominant) and Russell (biggest winner of all-time and greater Celtic than Bird).
2. You can't put yourself on. You shouldnt even compare yourself or anyone who is still playing to thsoe who are retired for this type of thing.
SO who is on yours? (have to be retired)
Mine: MJ, Wilt, Russell, and Oscar
MLB:
Babe
Willie
Hank
Ted Willians
NFL (very debatable due to difference in positions):
Montana
Rice
Jim Brown
(tough call)- LT (honorable mention Butkis/reggie white)
NHL

as someone who understands baseball, I know you know that the K is not the greatest indivation of dominance and No-nos are just 1 game.
Nolan Ryan is 20th among pitchers in WAR, 14th in wins, 5th in Ks per 9, I cant even find him (looked at top 200) in WHIP, lifetime ERA of 3.19.
I think he is in the argument among the top pitchers but dont see him as #1 open and shut case as many do.Founder of MMDELAD

interesting how 3 of your 4 nba guys were HS only
Personally I think big men are better served going to school to develop (their games and bodies)
But swing players are more ready to make the jump
Overall too many guys right now go one and done.
Plus the college game is hurt by the crazy roster turnover
My solution:
Anyone who wants to can enter out of HS. If you don't go in the top 10, you can't be taken after that.
YOu are required to wait 2 years. A. Either make a 2 year commitment to a college or go play ovreseas.
Tanking solution: At midseason, all teams that want to be considered for the lottery must decalre (ruling themselves out of the playoffs).
Whatever team posts the best record thereafter gets the most pingpong balls. 2nd gets 2nd most, and on.
That way teams are trying to win all year. While it will be harder for the truely bad teams to get better, the overall level of play would always be higher around the league.Founder of MMDELAD

Second one will never pass with ownership or the players association.
1st one, I'd say let them declare and if they get picked top 10? Good for them. If not, serves them right its their risk. This age rule bullshiit was made to protect GM's from themselves. Other than that, if a kid wants to go to college he must stay at least 2 years which will force them to survive a whole academic year.Oakland Raiders--Toronto Raptors--Toronto Blue Jays--San Jose Sharks

I dont understand why any company is allowed to prevent someone from earning a living based on age. I dont think they can physically compete but if someone wants to try to go straight from hs to nfl and gms are willing to pay them so be it

I swear the gimmicks they keep adding to the dunk contest make it worse and worse each year.
Get rid of it for awhile.
Replace it with a one on one competition.
Open it up to any all star and put 1 million on the line for charity of their choice. Maybe 500k to runner up.Founder of MMDELAD

Olympics
-Despite the fact that he can be a jerk and lazy, I am happy for Bode Miller because the Media kills him.
-US women hockey in gold medal game. Outshout opponent 70-9.
-US won the ice dancing gold. Can we now ban it?
-Canadian female curler = hot

Baseball
-pitchers and catchers finally report. The season has begun.
-Dempster walks away from 13million. Props to him for not just going on the dl and cashing a paycheck.
-Still alot of unsigned FAs
- Kimbrel deserved the 40+ million dollar contract. Not too much IMO.
NBA
-Westbrook soon to be back. Wonder how KD will respond having best year of career w/o him.
-Betting no big names get moved on THursdays deadline.

NBA:
Can't believe the 76ers are giving away Turner. They are clearly going full tank mode, but are they better off than if they had Turner, Carter Williams and still a really good pick? Idk.
Westbrook comes back and OKC sucking it big time vs Miami after beating them without Russ.
Lebron going off. Wants that MVP.
Olympics:
Cant believe US blew a two goal lead with less than 2 minutes. Then lose in OT to let Canada claim gold again.
Men need to exact revenge tomorrow. Only downer is that it is a semi instead of a final. They are clearly the best two teams in the tourney.

Turner is a FA after this year and probably due for a pay raise that Philly wasn't willing to commit to. Getting Granger's 16M expiring deal gives them even more cap room to play with vs. Turner's 6.6M. That said, there is still alot that can go wrong in their rebuild see Pistons, Detroit and Cavaliers, Cleveland.
Gotta love dem Canadian girls Was good friends with the one who scored the 1st goal back in early grade school. Once they brought in the extra attacker I was confident they would tie it up. That linesman almost ****ed it all up though.
I'm not holding my breath for the guys to pull their weight. I'd argue that the Swedes are better than us, better scoring in this tournament and a proven goalie who hasn't had to rely on great defensemen.Oakland Raiders--Toronto Raptors--Toronto Blue Jays--San Jose Sharks

A lot on ESPN being made of johnny Moneybags being just under 6' but having BIG HANDS.
I really dont think either will or should impact an NFL team's decision to take a player.
Id be looking farm more at arm strength, accuracy, cutting speed, and BRAIN/Leadership.
Does his height hurt him? Sure, but we already knew he was short. I don't see how 1/4-1/2 an inch makes a difference.
Supposedly Wilson would have been a top 10 pick if he was an inch taller. Instead he goes 75th *behind Weeden, Tannehill and Oswiller).
Supposedly Browns were trying to trade for HARBOUGH. Why would SF do that? They have been a championship team since he got there.
Meanwhile Cleveland just keeps looking worse and worse.
