I didn't mean for you to take that personally, it wasn't a hit at the army. I think the army is a wonderful branch of service and wouldn't mind deploying with em. It was more so a hit at one of the personnal i work with who is a complete and utter **** bag who says he is joining the army if he doesn't pick up this cycle and not only are they going to take him after he got kicked out the navy, they are going to promote him to e-6 idk if there is any truth in this statement or not i just think its dumb.

Any guys in Aircrew want tell me what the jobs are like?
i took my PST for SEALs/AIRR (i'm trying for either or. depends on how well i score at the PSTs) and did horrible.
10:34 swim CSS, 61 pushups, 65 situps, 13 pullups, and 11:46 run.
first time i took the PST also.
when i went to do my pullups my shoulder was trying to dislocate i think. it was twisting in the socket as i pulled up and rorators are sore today. i think the issue happened because i did my CSS on my right side the entire time. i'm guessing my rotators were fried? first time something like that has ever happened. it kind of has me worried because senior chief wants me to go to another PST this coming monday and there is no way i can get in the pool with my shoulder sore like this. i'm not concerned that it is injuried. i just know it needs to recover before i can get some training in. if it doesn't get better by friday i'm going to see if i can skip this coming PST. /blogKuzuri

^^^ Can't help with Aircrew insight, but.... You just learned a valuable lesson: Never go into an important test like that, without first practicing it multiple times (the same way it's tested). Many guys can do the individual events fine, but come apart when everything is completed in sequence.

ice and stretching on that shoulder, a LOT. srs
also on your CSS make sure to switch sides every length so you will be facing the same way the entire time you are in the pool, but on a different side of your body each length. consistently rotating like that helps me keep both arms/shoulders in the same amount of use and cant prevent things like dizziness from staring the same way and staying on the same side while swimming hard. that's why we do it in freestyle.
idk if your coach or chief has talked much with you yet, but we have a training program we use that adjusts everything to your PST scores. I started using it this week and i have money down that it works very well. My Chief also has the highest graduation rate in the nation so our standards are above competitive average in order to submit our PST scores to the draft. i can email you this program if you want; it will help tremendously. my last run time (two weeks ago, second PST i've taken) was 11:26 and am told it will take up to 6 weeks to get down to 10:00 or just below.
i did worse (imo) on the PST my first time so don't let it get to you cuzzz
if only we lived in the same state lulz. none of the guys around here are close; all have to drive an hour or more to get to where i live and vice-versa, so i train on my own.
also, unless you're in a rush to get a contract you have time to train; continually re-submitting to the draft won't hurt you in any way.Last edited by Troll_Patrol; 09-21-2011 at 05:38 PM.

thanks for the input man. i haven't had access to a nice pool like we were using at the YMCA and on top of that i haven't practiced both side. but i will practice both sides asap. our chief has went over some training and it's pretty straight forward. my swim time was down because i wasn't flutter kicking after the scissor kicks. idk why my run time wasn't in the 10's to be honest. i guess i didnt try as hard as i normally train. my head wasn't right. you can pm me the workout if you like man

aight, im not sure if i can pm an attachment since it's in excel format but i will try.
and on the CSS i've heard people say the flutter kick isn't important but i think it's the most important part to keeping your momentum. just remember with a flutter kick your power is coming from your thighs and not your lower leg. it sounds odd but when you get in the pool and try to push more with the thigh it makes a huge difference in power output. and for most non swimmers it takes quite a while to get CSS down. get a drag suit if you can, it will help with pool training. i will begin to start training with a t-shirt and a drag suit in the pool because my swim time is at 7:40 (definitely lower by a few seconds now).
edit: just checked and cant PM it. don't care if you don't want it or not; you wont hurt my feelings cuzz. if you do i can email it. just an offer to help another NSW candidate out.<3 http://i.imgur.com/pnCvw.gif <3

we have a bro at our station that can free style in like 6:30 but can't get his run under 12mins to get an AIRR contract. chief said if he gets it below 12 he should have a contract easy. i don't know the rest of his PST scores, but i believe he's doing pushups and situps in the 70's.

i wouldn't be too worried if it wasn't for my shoulder. only thing i can think of is not alternating side when i swim. i'm worried it's going to happen again. my current ship date is jan 10th and they want me at every PST. all i need is like a week after my shoulder gets healed to develop my left side for the CSS and i think ill be good to go

fuark. well if you want AIRR you wont have to drop too much on your times for a contract. for SEAL it will take a few months. if you feel like your shoulder needs time tell your chief. you don't have a NSW contract yet so it shouldn't be an issue or held against you in any way. I was dealing with shin splints and related issues but am now seeing a physical therapist that is fixing the issue. i still can't run a ton though and they understand that.
you'll be fine brah, just keep training and if something bugs you more than it should let it heal.<3 http://i.imgur.com/pnCvw.gif <3

yeah i'm going to let my rec know. i wanted to get back in the pool today but it's not going to happen. unless doing some really easy laps would help in the recovery? i'm not sure. this is the first time my shoulder has done this. it does feel better today though.
thanks for the spreadsheet.
i'm a little confused about the swimming and running. for example, day 1 - swimming. it says 200 @ 4:00 then below that it says 300 @ 6:20. then 400 @ 9:17. so i do all sets back to back? or rest for a few after each set? and same thang for the running, am i doing the 1200, 2400, and 4800 back to back or is there rest in between each set?
pushups have me comfused also. it says 76 reg pushups when i can only do 61 in 2mins. so do i keep going to get 76 no matter how long it takes or do i break it up into sets until i get my 76 total.
thanks for the help manLast edited by johnsonb90436; 09-22-2011 at 06:52 AM.

do everything block by block. so for the swimming you do the one 200, but your goal is to do it in less than 4:00 and take a short rest before moving on to the 300 and so forth. we are supposed to do the chart from left to right, so you would do all the swimming blocks first then move on to the pushups and situps. since each block for pushups and situps have the same sets i do the first set of pushups then the first set up situps, then the second set of pushups then the second set of situps. try resting as little as possible for the first block. after finishing the first blocks for pushups and situps take a short rest and move on to the second block and do it in the same order.
days 1,2,5 are distance days so you want to take a little rest after each block for the running and swimming.
days 3,4,5 are HIIT (interval days) so for day 3 in the first block i have 4x100 @ 1:41. i need to finish that 100 as fast as i can and whatever time is left in that 1:41 period will be my rest time. after i do those 4 i take a
quick break and continue on with the other two blocks of swimming just like that.
don't forget the swimming for these workouts is measured in yards not meters, so make sure to check the distance in your pool you're training in. if it's in meters just do the same numbers but give yourself more rest time. you might not think meters vs yards is a big difference but i did this yesterday; for a 500 for a PST my 100y lap pace is around 1:31, in the 25m pool i was having a hard time keeping a 1:35 lap pace while doing intervals, which meant i would have had almost no rest if i was following the 1:41 time period. and i can sprint a 100y distance in CSS in 1:18 so it does really make a difference.
for the pushups go to failure, take a quick second and just keep pushing yourself. you won't be able to do all these pushups without hitting failure a lot; that's the goal. yesterday i had to do 380 pushups in those three blocks, plus all the situps. and my max for a PST is only 79.<3 http://i.imgur.com/pnCvw.gif <3

im stationed onboard the USS GW. you dont NEED to bring your car because the public transportation system is very reliable. whats your paygrade? for sea-duty personnel only E-5 and above can drive here anyway unless you are E-4 married. only E-3 and below assigned to shore duty can drive. the COLA is bangin' over here... you'll make good money as long as you manage it well. it is expensive as hell here though, hence the higher COLA.
conventional or nuclear? convential you will prolly work in one of the lighting shops or electrical safety shops doing safety-checks and what not. nuclear... you stand a lot of watches.▂ ▃ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █ ɔqɯq underground █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▃ ▂

Anyone been stationed in Rota, Spain? I have a few months left of school yet, but it's about time to start thinking about where it is I want to be. I have 4 "choices" (needs of the Navy 1st, of course): Rota, San Diego, Guam, And Virginia. Any input for a married guy, with kids? The advice I get from around here (school) is mostly from single guys, so they don't really have the same priorities as I do when it comes to a duty station. Thanks.
What worries you, masters you.
