Hey guys! Nothing like a little refeed to induce your period. lol! Ouch. Oh, the pain. Oy. Ok, so I was talking to one of the girls yesterday (my department consists of 10 women, including myself) and we were you know, just having random conversation, and she was talking about how she was trying to lose weight and how everything keeps hindering her efforts (I just smile and nod these days)

So anyway, I say something along the lines of "I'm not always anal about what I eat all year around- I usually just relax most of the year, probably gain a few pounds in the process, then tighten everything up during the summer and lose whatever I gained" kind of thing and she looks at me and says "You've got good genetics though." lol! I may have looked at her and laughed a little with a slight eye roll

I wanted to say something like "Oh yeah, I didn't do anything to achieve this body, I was just born with it." That's what happened. I didn't work for it or anything, I was just born with a nice body. Hahaha! I'm not knocking her or anything, I just found it kind of amusing. Oh yeah, Lori just looks good and watches what she eats, she doesn't do anything else. So yeah- they key to being in shape is good genetics + muscle milk

Anyway, I really wish I could bring my job home with me. And Stephen's. We'd be set. Sigh! I kind of love my co-workers. They're awesome people. They don't ever make fun of my eating habits. They're really jealous that I can turn down donuts and cake and they can't I will miss this place!

So yeah, on a different note though, I feel really good today. I mean, my body feels better. Less hurting. Usually lately I'll bring my bike to work maybe 3 days out of the week and walk/sprint the other 2. Today I walked to loosen everything up a bit more and it helped a lot!! I think a lot of it had to do with recovery, and the carbs helped with that. So now that I don't hurt anymore, I MAY do some lighter workouts for a week. Maybe in the 10 rep range, with legs only once.

Yeah I'm happy and hungry and mellow this morning. lol! Kind of wanting to do a little something workout-wise after work tomorrow. I slept awful last night, stupid almost tom had me sweating to death and it was so uncomfortable. But anyway, I'm off Happy Thursday guys!!!!

Hahahaha - I have also given up on that conversation.

It's SO frustrating... And I'm a former fatty, so people are all, "Tell me how you did it?!"... But they don't actually want to hear how I did it. They want me to say that it all magically fell off, and they can do that, too.

I've actually had someone say to me, "But isn't there a pill or something that can make me skinny?" *sigh*

    I don't even bother, anymore.

Happy Thursday! Almost to the weekend!

P.S. Simon says "hi". He's currently trying to get on my computer. Guess I'm not paying him enough attention at the moment. Hahaha.

Thanks- I think I will As the day wars on I'm noticing my hamstrings still have that achy cramped fatigued thing going on!!! So I'm going to rest for a bit and have a nice, adventurous weekend.

Haha! Yeah, I know. I quit on those conversations as well. She brought it up so I was just agreeing with everything she said. I find it amusing though what other people's views are on these things It doesn't frustrate me unless they ask for advice and then don't listen, and even that I'm pretty numb to it now. lol!

Can't wait for the long weekend!!

Awww, give him a big hug for me!!!

    Hello Lori enjoy the food!
I actually didn't try!! I just smiled and nodded it causes too many arguments so I don't bother trying to explain anything anymore. If they want to know bad enough- they'll find out for themselves It is kind of funny though hearing them talk nutrition Preeettyy sure she brought in some protein pancakes today. lol! I wasn't back at my desk when she announced what they were, but when I went back there I saw a container of pancake sitting there for everyone. I didn't ask. But last week everyone gathered 'round while I explained how to make the protein pancake I was eating. They were so interested (seriously). Hahahahaha! Oh my

Oh, I saw a picture of my tattoo in the making last night Fell right in love with it. It needs to be down-scaled, but so gorgeous. Very pretty and elegant. Very excited My appointment is on the 18th of August Still wanna get one on my arm though really bad. But then again, you'll be able to see my Leviathan when I'm wearing a tank top anyway (want one that's visible) I'm going to get a Leviathan (ice) on my upper rear delt/back (I want to be able to look behind me and see the head on my delt) I think then maybe some kind of bird (wind) on my entire left arm, I'm thinking, and some kind of pretty earth creature on the side of my right calf. I'll be totally elemental! lol! I figured since my dragon is fiery, it'd be a pretty cool theme

Yeah, I think we've all had those co-worker conversations. When I worked at the hospital in an office full of women, almost all of whom were overweight and who pretty much started a diet every Monday and mostly were off it by Thursday, they watched me lose 15-20lbs by diet alone and then start lifting weights and get fitter and fitter looking. I guess I was lucky in that they all pretty much saw that it was all willpower and hard work and they all pretty much said, "I couldn't do what you do." Because they couldn't. They didn't want it enough. It wasn't important enough to them. Which is--IMO-fine. It's no surprise to me that when I started working out seriously and consistently for the first time in 15 years or so, it was right after my elderly dad (who I'd been taking care of) suddenly passed, my son who'd been really sick for several years (ditto) was doing much better, and I broke up with my guy. When I was spending my life caretaking other people, working almost full time, and trying to give some time and attention to a relationship, I might have been bothered by my middle-aged gut fat and the fact that I didn't like how I looked in clothes any more but I didn't have the energy or willpower to do anything about it on any kind of consistent basis. Which, again, I think is fine. There are more important things in life than having a quote unquote nice body. And while I read the ladies on here with small children or ridiculously demanding jobs or both who are at the gym at 4am or are making their meals a week ahead so that they're only eating healthily with awe and admiration for their dedication, I know that is not me nor is it most people. So I don't begrudge people for whom it isn't important enough to do. I just begrudge people who think there's a magic way to do it (muscle milk ftw! )

Which, I think I've gotten off my point (shocker!) but I guess what I'm trying to say is, my annoying co-worker conversations were probably much less annoying because they didn't think it was magic, having seen the transformation and what went into it. I think people who just met me now might think this shiz is just good genetics or muscle milk and I'd wanna slap them. Um, hai Lori! Wrote a book in your journal, I did.

I think people who just met me now might think this shiz is just good genetics or muscle milk and I'd wanna slap them. Um, hai Lori! Wrote a book in your journal, I did.
OOoh, awesome story I agree, it's all about wanting it. Most people in my office would like to change, but they're happy enough just the way they are Which is awesome, because what matters the most is that you're happy, right? Funny you mentioned that they'd start off great on a Monday and by Thursday they'd be after ruining their diet. The girl I was talking to yesterday said the same thing. She said she'd have a good few days and then a birthday or some event or occasion would pop up and she'd eat a bunch of junk and then quit for that week. I guess that's what most people do. They just don't want it enough to be consistent with it. Which I agree, is fine

I guess it's true too, that they just see me being small and eating healthy and think that I am just one of those people who never gain weight. There are lots of people like that around who don't do much besides not eat a lot. I wish I had Boomer's arms!!! lol! My next mission is for there to be no question if I lift or not! The cross-fit guy knows I lift though and he's proud But I had to tell him. He always compliments my running when he sees me run after work!!!

I do enjoy how they do realize that I'm dedicated and don't knock me for it. They're not a catty, jealous bunch, they're just awesome and supportive!!! So I try to be the same way back, and just give them little tips or share healthy recipes here and there They know I'm active, too. One time one woman said "I've never seen someone as tiny as you eat so much!" with a smile on her face. So I looked at her proudly and grinned and said "I eat at least 2000 calories a day!" and she said "Yeah, I bet you do! And you probably burn it all off, too!" and I just smiled. They think it's pretty cool that I'm as outgoing and eat as good as I do. So that makes me happy They know for the most part that I work for it, somewhat...

Hell I am a solidly built ham but am quite spry when I need to be srs. All the time in work situations where I sprint up somebody's flight of stairs with dat mini fridge with ease they complain I'm able to do it only because "well you're used to it, if I had to do that for work I could!" or "you're young, wait til you hit 30" (lol most people assume I'm like 22 srs.) The world is filled with fat, out of shape, unhealthy, negative people. Just troll em and tell them you eat 3 XL pizzas a day, extra cheese. I would like to know how many steps a day the average office person does who only goes to work, goes home, and sits on the couch. You can't assume. People think I don't know what it's like to be fat but I do.
I think genetics plays a small part, but pertains mostly to the amount of muscle you can gain. It's mostly people's habits and lifestyles that make them look the way they do, save they few who were actually born with problems. Most people have a natural tendency to overeat/undereat/move more when they eat more/not move at all during the day/move a ton during the day, etc. NEAT and natural eating habits are the main factor for people who don't track or train.

In regards to the friend that works out a lot and doesn't have much to show for it- she probably doesn't eat for her goals. "Genetically" I have wide hips and fat thighs. I used to be ~30-35% bf. If I didn't change my habits, I'd still be overweight. But I did something about it. Anyone can do it if they put in the work.

I am not sure of my starting BF%, but I have lost 90 pounds.. but was thin until I moved out and stopped sports. It does play a role for habits more than anything. I mentioned my friend, not because of genetics, but of lack of knowledge.
Hard work and learning how to balance eating is the key always. You can't force someone to lose weight or be ready to be in shape.

Hard work and learning how to balance eating is the key always. You can't force someone to lose weight or be ready to be in shape. D
    Oh, for sure!!!!

It's POURING outside! Holy Cow! My jeans are just a wee bit wet. It's Friday, and so it's jeans day for Lori here at work. lol! Kind of reminds me of high school But anyway, I just washed and dried these jeans on the weekend, and I put them on today for the first time and they're falling off me No! Not my jeans! The jeans I ordered earlier this week were the same size! Now I'm worried they won't fit...

Today it's calling for rain/thundershowers all day. And it's so dark it feels like night! So I think when I go home later I'm going to do a little cardio-ish workout Some barbell complexes and such. Maybe just use 50ish pounds and do bb rows, oh presses, front squats, upright rows, and chest presses with no rest in-between. I LOVE doing stuff like that, but I can never seem to fit in a little session like that during my regular workout schedule.

Uh huh! Supposed to rain tomorrow all day too! We're going to go to the mall though and chill out there. Then on Sunday we're going on a day long fishing adventure in the hot sun!!!!!! Yuppers!!! Happy Friday!

Oh! Stephen parents said they'd co-sign for us to finance a car! The only condition though is that we get a new one. But with the whole credit ratio thing I'm not sure what we'll be able to get So we'll fly home and get a car when we get back August is still looking fantastic!

It's raining cats and dogs here and I love it. I hate the rain when I have to go out, though.
