since NVDA has had analyst price targets between $600-700 since September last year

I just BTO my first calls. Decided to do PLTR 2/26 25C and 3/5 25C. One contract each.

Do people make big money from this by closing the contract when the price is beyond strike, or do they make money from buying the shares? How do I even buy the shares at a certain price? Or does the profit from buying the shares get embedded in the option price when you try to close it?

Depends on. Sometimes I close mine out when I've got a few weeks left and I already collected 60% of the premium. Sometimes I just wait for expiration.

when GME ran up end of January RKT hit $23

this morning RKT opened 20.35 and was up to 20.98 in few minutes.

volume was already half of total daily volume in 1 hour of trading.

its cooled off now and trading at its usual flat 20.

Imagine this filled. lmao.

Before close those 23C were as low as 0.10$

RKT is actually doing something after great earnings and dividend.

lol yup. Also, Jay Farner is really good about making the rounds, but he usually just says the same thing each time from quarter to quarter, and it never makes a difference. TBH I was expecting a higher floor because they are finally ACTING upon something instead of talking about it like they previously have. Still have $19.5 3/5 CSPs open that will ride through expiration just in case of assignment and can get dat dere dividend

I rolled out half of my PLTR puts (again, I HATE rolling) so I am a little more at peace with that move... a little.

My TSLA strangle is still looking wonky, and a lot can happen over the next week, so not committing to anything yet.

Outside of PLTR and TSLA, nothing else expiring until 3/19. I am going to try desperately hard to not touch anything else until the market gets its chit together. Easier said than done lol

If you put any weight on indicators and T&A, then I think the ichimoku cloud says it pretty clearly. Stuck right in the cloud right now and IMO will trade like its stuck in mud until it breaks out.

And let me make this clear when I say “casuals,” I am in no way talking chit, because everyone starts somewhere and some time. But when newbies come in talking like they actually have a clue, don’t want to actually LEARN, and just want to be a part of the cringe meme scene, that’s when I just head out.

I’m actually looking into opening a chick-fil-a franchise.

He's hoping to generate maybe a 25% profit every year. Is that considered a conservative expectation?

Depends on how he conducts his trades. If you go on discords like eagle investors, some of them average like 30% gains in a day.

No, I don't even have $100k to invest unless I'm using margin. I wouldn't use that strategy because I'd rather be much more aggressive.. srs. I am full SPAC crew nowadays. 25% return on that amount of capital is little more than $2k/month.. which is great for someone who isn't trading all day but is kind of low for someone who does.

He was asking me for advice the past month or so and after I spoke with him yesterday, he was saying he wanted to go the CC route. Said he didn't want to deal with the ups and downs of naked options. I'm just curious, tbh. I had thought about that strategy when I first discovered CCs, but realized I wasn't patient enough to just sit there and wait a month for expiry before cashing out.

Personally I don't like the idea because of the possibility of a stock mooning within that month's time period.

Just curious as to why someone worth millions would only put 100K into the greatest bull run of our generation, homeboy should park 500K into SWBK.U and send me 10% of his profits in 6 months.

Well, he's heavily diversified; he pulls in $200k from his corporate job which he told me he plans to quit this summer. He went big into real estate last year and said that's where the bulk of his focus is right now. He also has money in crypto. What he told me about real estate was pretty eye opening.. he urged me to get into it big time and just quit my job once I got the ball rolling. Told me his latest deal was closing in the range of $1MM.. not all profit I'm betting but still.

Makes me wonder, wtf did I go to school for if I could just quit my job and flip houses the rest of my life. Don't even know if I'd appreciate the money if I did that, knowing it doesn't really require any education.

I'm just guessing at his net worth, but I'm assuming he's only putting $100k in the market because he's risk averse. He has two daughters, one of which has special needs and is married, and her husband doesn't have a job, just helps her dad with his business. His other daughter is starting residency. So he supports his wife, his two daughters, and his son in law, therefore I'm assuming he would rather take more risks with real estate rather than the stock market.

To me it sounds like a nice strategy for someone his age, he doesn't have the luxury of taking huge risks in the market like us younger folks.

Edit: It could've been a lie, because I pressed him for the dollar figure. Not because I wanted to gauge his liquidity but because I wanted to get an idea of how much money he could generate from CCs based off his investment.

When you talk to someone successful its always yeah so I did this and that and I am rich its just that easy.

I know someone that used to sell dog food for living that lived below his means to buy duplexs to rent out. He was the electrician/plumber/handyman everything in beginning. He moved from duplex to houses close to university. Started renting out to foreign students.

Realized there was great need to build rental building close to university.

Found few investors and they ended up building 8 floor building. Those investors got great return, it started to snowball from there.

15 years later owns 25 buildings (between condos and apartments to rent)

He has money coming out of ass, I can't event guess probably $50+ million net worth. He bought old Ferrari F1 car to put as display in his house just cause he can.
