Sup brahs, was wondering if my comp will be able to run GW2?

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU 540 @ 3.07GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
Memory: 4096MB RAM

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GT 240
Display Memory: 2200 MB
Dedicated Memory: 474 MB
Shared Memory: 1725 MB

I have a 260 gtx and it's barely scraping by. Afaik the 240 won't be good enough, and if it is, you will most definitely be playing on all low

In the beta's, I decided to keep with the Misc theme for ranks.

As for how many of each rank, I personally think somewhere along the lines of a 1 officer for every 20 members ratio is pretty good. I'm not going to choose officers until after a few weeks in game and I can have a good idea of who I trust, who is helpful, active, etc. etc. etc. Basically the people who show they can make a good officer.

As for upgrades, Guild emblem is coming first so we can mark our keeps we capture. Beyond that, the guild bank is something we agreed on pages and pages ago as a good 2nd to go after. Everyone was in a general agreement to go down the WvW path mainly for the boosts/upgrades we get. Once the part 3 gets put out with all of the parts broke down, we can take a look further into it and have a set plan for how we want to spend influence at launch.

We've already talked about having set WvW times to get everyone together on Vent and go for it. Also, I want everyone to know that you can take advantage of the calender on the Guild website to plan events, dungeon raids, sPvP group practice within the guild, etc. Just shoot me a PM on the guild website with the details, and I'll add it to the calender for everyone to see. This is where all of our scheduled events will be posted.

The guild emblem was discussed a few pages back, but all of the options suck cock and nothing is really Misc themed. Nobody really came up with a good one, so for now I'm planning on rolling with the beer mug (yucky with the boys) until someone can make something better that everyone would agree on.

Think that answers everything you had posted. I think most pre-guild decision have pretty much been made or are pending something else, but for the most part we're good to go. When our server is finalized and I make the new guild thread for launch, I'll include a ton of this information and more (including stuff like rules, etc. on that note, we're all adults and I expect everyone to act like one, so I'm not instituting many rules beyond basics guidelines. I'm not your Dad, don't make me act like it. Be a bro to your bros)

I'm also going to REALLY utilize the guild website, so you all need to make sure you're constantly checking it closer to launch and at launch/during the game.

i have been excited for game releases before. halo 2, 3, reach, cod BO,MW2, Diablo 3

but none of them have looked as promising as Gw2, and halo 2 was the only one to live up to the hype

correct, arenanet said that the game was "cpu bound" during the betas. i think it got progressively better though, my gpu was running almost full load in the last stress test

im running e6550, 4gb ram, and a 450 gts, and i ran very smoothly outside of wvw, and maybe 20 fps in big wvw battles

first question: sPvp you are automatically leveled to 80, given every single skill available to your profession, given a clean slate for your traits, and you can get pvp gear from the vendors inside the mists (everyone has similar starting stats, but the way you gear yourself will differentiate one thief from the next thief etc... for example if you are a condition build, you can get condition amulet and condition based gems or w/e theyre called to put in your armor.) so basically everyone is on a level playing field, unless you gear yourself like a retard (condition damage items combined with a burst build for example)

WvWvW you are automatically leveled to 80, but not given every skill available. I.E.: you are a level 5 ranger with all of your longbow weapon skills unlocked. you will go into WvW with all of those skills, but none of the utility skills offered at 11(? i think). so a guy that is level 40 in non wvw/pvp will have many more utility skills and elite skills available to him, so he will have an advantage over you. also gear in wvw is not given to you, you will go into wvw with the gear you have acquired through pve. so your level and gear progression in pve will help you in wvw, but not sPvp

second question: there are 2 types of spvp. one is hot join. hot join is 8v8, non competitive and you get randomly matched with people (or whoever joins the hot join server you are currently in. the other is tournament style spvp. this is 5v5, and you generally go in as a group of 5 (though it is possible to solo join, but you will get smashed). as soon as 8 5 player teams are gathered for a tournament, the tournament starts and teams are randomly matched to play each other. winner advances, loser is out. so if you go 3-0, you have won a tournament.



Edit: not really sure when you get your first utility skill, it might be as soon as you pick up a skill point from skill challenges

this is true for the random tournaments

but i have read that there will be player-run tournaments, so essentially anyone can create a tournament with the settings that they want

so there will be tournaments run by people that can give out prize money and stuff.

Tournaments are the more organized side of structured PvP. Talk to the tournament master to join. Tournament play is always 5v5 and matches take place on the same maps that are used for hot join play.
