Alright, just gonna chime in here and say this
I work in Hospital security, and I've noticed that the EMT's/Paramedics are BY FAR the most pretentious group of Emergency workers. I have no idea why its so bad, but its painful. Firefighters/Cops/Nurses are all good though, just fuking paramedics

Like i stated, i am not bashing the firefigther for what he did. He did what he thought was appropriate at the time, and i completely agree with you and your opinions of the senario. Yes that might have been the only option, but unfortunitly it did go wrong... I for one am no where near perfect at what i do on the fire scene. (and off) That is why these videos are a great tool. Not for bashing firefighters, but for training purposes.
I also agree with you and when you state its a basic firefighter skill/task, we also learned to secure the hose line with webbing or some sort of hose strap to secure the hose line in between the rungs for safety purposes before opening up (something also learned in fire school). And I agree with you and footing the ladder ( might be because not everyone on scene was doing their job and/or there were not enough people on scene.. we will never know)
So all in all, he did what he had to do to get the job done. Glad he didnt get hurt during the process...
I agree...***TwinLab MILITIA Member Since 2013***

So, kind of a rough couple days lately while off shift (Women, Jesus).
My Captain noticed it while I was on shift, asked me what's up, told him I'm not one to talk about my problems. So what's he do? He says "Well grab the irons and lets get you over this ****."
Needless to say, 2 hours later I feel much better, we need more plugs in our force entry training door, and my Captain made my week.***Misc Firefighter/EMT Crew***

Wow 130k is insane.
I've only taken 1 rope rescue course but I'd definitely like to take more in the future. That stuff is fun as hell. It's so much stuff to remember though, and we barely scratched the surface.
The guys in my department who teach it are so fking good at that stuff, it's mind blowing. Watching them put together complicated rope systems in a matter of a few minutes is crazy impressive.Last edited by 2Rude4MyOwnGood; 05-01-2014 at 04:56 PM.

Once I get through our ropes and structural collapse course I would actually like to take a heavy rescue course (people pinned) and door opening (using of the haligen) but I have NO idea where to look to find those 2.
I'll be able to be our USAR trained within this month so if it all works out, I can work at one of our USAR stations by next month.Leo/Military Supporter. Bustin my ass to save yours!!!!!!

It will be a specialty team. But I will ride the ambulance, engine or truck just like any other day. Our USAR rig won't move unless its called for or a 2 alarm (or higher) fire.

Yep thats it pretty much is just RIT. I'm sure they take over in case of a collapse but it's just RIT.
Good new for me is since the ropes course is all next week, the structual collapse is the end of May and then hopefully there will be a transfer list out in the begining of june and I can just go to a USAR station off the bat. Would be nice to get a home that I know I'm gonna stay at.Leo/Military Supporter. Bustin my ass to save yours!!!!!!

Yea my bad, should have warned people to turn off their speakers.
"Qian Lingyun, 23, and Liu Jie, 20, were trying to extinguish a blaze sweeping through an apartment block in Shanghai yesterday when the tragedy happened. According to passers-by, Liu apparently fell from the balcony first after being pushed back by a wall of flame, and Qian had grabbed his hand to try and save him."

Had a good first in fire yesterday. Wish I was wearing my helmet cam cause it was a HEAVY fire load so it was rolling good prior to arrival.
Also had a ff get burned pretty bad yesterday. 2nd and 3rd degree burns to torso and chest. I'l try and get the pictures of his gear. Got caught up off the hose line, called for mayday, truck company pulled him out a window.Leo/Military Supporter. Bustin my ass to save yours!!!!!!
