I agree with NG - use different plates to get past the blues in your head. I am the same with 45's on the bar for squat, for some reason it freaks me out but if I use 25's plus 10's I'm good. Same weigh but visually much different!
Sounds like it was a great session with the coach, you can't beat in person coaching to fix the problem at the time it is happening. That's what I liked about having my posing coach in person."That's not sweat that's your fat cells crying" anonymous

GOod to know! I will be doing jerk stalls with my new blocks on Friday and will let you know. I tested them out today and I don't think it will be an issue.
Thanks Wish!
The coaching was really cool! More fun things to learn!
Yes, the blue was all in my head. Next time though they are mine! Will talk more about the coaching in a minute.
Okay, I am not even sure where to start this update. Oh, my birthday was Sunday and Hubs made me my blocks! Which was nice since I broke my old ones on Monday when he was finishing up my new ones!!
Broken old one
New ones per Joel's design
Coaching- After going to Dallas I was offered an opportunity to train under the one of the Spoon barbell coaches. After much thought and consideration I decided to take up the offer. I will be going to Dallas probably once a month. I am really excited about this. I really enjoyed having Charis as my coach but it is hard to pass up the chance to lift with others and have someone right there with you. I started my new program today. I am now lifting 5x a week. Right now the big issue is fixing my snatch first pull. Daily I will be doing about 15-20 min of snatch pulls to the lap. Let me tell you you can do A LOT of x5 first pull in 15-20 min!! Also, I got a new set of kilo change plates over the black Friday deal. Muscle Driver had 25% off and the change plates I have were starting to have issues. I had the rubber ones and the sleeves were coming out of the 2.5's and I sliced one of the 1.5's by dropping the bar on it. THis time I bought metal change plates! Hopefully they will be in soon!
So today's workout
Standing muscle snatch
2x12xbar, 10xbar
PP+OHS jerk grip- THese are very tiring! My arms are gonna feel like lead tomorrow. You do a push press then a OHS then repeat 8-10 times. I was so happy to dump the bar!
8xbar,8x20,2x8x25,10x25
Snatch pulls to lap for 17 minutes
11x5x35,5x5x38
Tomorrow is snatch and clean off blocks and 4FS+8BS. Oh I am gonna be squatting like a full+a part time job!Spoon Barbell Club

Happy belated birthday. Those jerk blocks look sweet, much better design than the first pair.
Coaching opportunity sounds awesome. I would imagine the oly lifts would benefit the most from live, real time coaching.Powerlifting Log - http://tinyurl.com/jshaw5

That is an awesome line! Serendipity for sure! I sent hubs the cracked block picture right about he time he was finishing the new ones. He was thinking he was pretty lucky in getting them done at the right time!
I am really excited about the new program and the new coach! I think it will be really good for me!
He did do a good job and you did and excellent job on the design!
Thanks!!
The PP+OHS is evil. Just plain, pure evil!
They are much more solid than the first pair and hubs used crews this time and not nails! LOL! I think the in person coaching will help a lot!
Thank you all for the birthday wishes. I was feeling very jaded this year since USAW has me listed as 39 for the next meet and I just turned 38! I was like hey! You can't add a whole extra year on me, but I guess that is the way they roll it. You are what ever age you tune that year as of Jan 1! But it was a nice day!Spoon Barbell Club

DCJ from blocks- the jerks on the heavier ones have some pushing going on
35,40,43PR, 4x45 PR, 2x48 PR

Very nice.
Your blocks are Borat-approved!
Just a safety tip, cuz I don't wanna see you get hurt. When you dump the bar, let it go.. It will bounce but DO NOT catch it. Let it go and "guide" it until it stops bouncing on its own. I have gotten injured in the past for doing exactly what you are doing..

THank you! Unfortunately coach did not agree!
That and keep pulling. TOo bad the first pull was wrong though. And that is what I need to fix. But at least I got an email saying call me we need to talk NOW! That helps!
Thanks! I was feeling pretty strong after that as well!
Snatch with pause triples
bar,25,2x30,3x33,4x35
2 Cleans with pause + jerk
35,2x40,5x45
Jerk stalls all triples
45,4x55
4/8 FBS
bar,4x25
And sorry Joel I did not use my blocks for the jerk stalls. THis increase in volume is killing me this week and I was like how can I do these easiest! Rack it is!
I got some thumb tape. Best chit EVER!! For real! My thumbs have been killing me esp my right one.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!Spoon Barbell Club

Positions
Weightlifting is all about positions. Being in the right one at the right time to get the bar going where you need it to go. My first pull is my biggest problem. But I think I am getting into better positions. The better I get and the more consistent I get the easier it is to get the bar up and not have to chase it, ie jump forward.
So while I am no expert here are some pictures that I think show a better place to be for me.

Those pics are sweet! That'd make a cool art piece to put all those side by side, wouldhangingym/10 You look very symmetrical in all those shots too, mirin'. I often see people at the gym doing a squat (ok ok, not a squat but a 1/8th squat) and their rt leg is like way over there and their left leg is going all weird somewhere else, don't even get me started on the use of the man-pon.
