Alright here she is in all her glory. Got my first workout in tonight and all my expectations were totally exceeded. It seems to wobble a bit but I think it might be due to not being square. I'm going to bolt it to the floor this weekend so I'll have an opportunity to square it then.

General question, I just got in a shipment of revolvers. There should be no reason that I couldn't load 7 of the 45lbs.'s on the long pins is there? What is the load capacity of those welds? I'm guessing they wouldn't make them that long if they couldn't handle the weight.

Congrats on an awesome combo! I don't think you'll have any issues with seven 45s (as long as they fit). You could always contact Sorinex to confirm, but I think you are correct with your assumption that they would have made them shorter if they were concerned with capacity since most store their 45s on the long pegs.

Dark Horse Dimensions without Weight Rack

Thanks for all the info on the DH. I am planning out my gym and leaning towards the DH. I only have a 10'x8' space to work with and am planning to have the rack against the 10' wall. This would give me 4' for the rack area and 4' to do Olympic lifts.

Can anyone give me the actual footprint of the DH rack without the weight rack? The website says 4'x4', but I have been told the interior depth/length is 30" and width is 40" - this would lead me to believe the actual footprint of the rack is closer to 42"Dx46". Your help is appreciated.

Really liking this rack, but have a concern. Did everyone who has received their rack recently get it with 3 holes drilled toward the top of the vertical posts? I noticed them on the red rack but not on older pictures posted or pics on sorinex site. The reason this is important is because the rack would go in a bedroom. I have 8 ft. ceilings but with flooring I have less than half a foot clearance, which would be ok but no matter how I set things up either the vertical posts or the chin up bar would hit the lighting in the bedroom, unless I put the plate storage facing forward but don't really want to do that. If I could set the front chin up bar at the lower holes (top of front posts) this would work. It also seems like it can be set toward the back by the other chin up bar, correct?

otherwise I might have to request a shorter rack. how much have they charged those of you who have ordered a shorter version of the dark horse?

Also has anyone ordered the indexing chin bar? from the pics I know I would have to set it up towards the back (due to concerns above), but i'm wondering how people like it. It seems like its the best of both worlds for those who do like an angled bar (like the powertech rack).

I had noticed this picture and its what gave me the idea to set it lower. I couldn't tell if it was just 2 holes maybe bcuz it's black. Good to know it does have the 3 holes.

    Repped.

Pretty sure it can be set up at the back too then..... If so it's smart of them to give you options.

The dark horse has been backordered for 6-8 weeks all year. I can't imagine that they were able to make up that time for black Friday. I'd expect to keep waiting...

FYI, they have quit sending the pipe safeties standard with the racks and are sending the straps instead. Talked to them and they said pipe safeties were no longer an item

I am considering ordering one of these racks. I need kind of a weird measurement if someone is able to get it... If a 45lb plate is on the weight storage unit, what is the distance between the back side of the 45lb plate and the outside of the front upright?

I ask because of where the rack would go in my garage. The back of the plate storage would be at a wall, and I have a beam in the garage ceiling that is only like 87-88" from the ground and it is about 6'2" from the wall. If I needed to I could turn the rack backwards and the plate storage would easilly be under the beam since it is shorter than the main part of the rack. I would like to have the plate storage against the wall though if possible.

the weight horn is going to be centered on the upright. How big is a 45lb plate? Add half of that - 1" to the overall length and it will give you a very close approximate.

Yea, I calculated it similarly. I was thinking the length of the rack is listed at 6' but the feet stick out some so I would get a few inches there (every inch helps...) and from some pics I have seen of it sitting on a 4' by 6' platform it seems it might be a tad shorter unless the platform wasn't quite 4 by 6. I will just give them a call lol.

I don't have the dimensions here, but no way it is 6ft deep, the rack itself is 36" and the plate storage may be 24".

listed footprint is 4'x4" without storage and 4'x6' with.

36" is probably between the uprights. It's 3"x3" tubing, so 6" for the uprights, that has us to 42" - if the feet extend 3" each, that's 4' long.

It's 30" between the uprights. The dimensions are on the previous page of this thread. The total depth without the feet is under 5ft including plate storage and just over 5'3" with the feet.

Great, as long as those dimensions from the pdf are accurate I will have no issue. I am going to wait until black friday and hopefully they will have a decent deal going on. How custom can they do the paint job, is it kind of a whole frame or nothing kind of thing? I am considering leaving the rack black and accenting it with blue or something if that is possible. Maybe get the pull up bars/cross member blue and j cups if they will do that. I was going to see about getting the safeties blue or something also but from the sounds of it the blue would probably be scraped off after a little while from sliding them in and out?

It comes with straps now. But if it had safety rods, no, don't paint them. Will make a mess.

To my knowledge the specs are correct aside from the width. They have it as 41" wide between the uprights when it is really 42".

I know its an old thread but just want to put my $0.02 about the dark horse.

I recently bought Dark Horse after the price increase. Charged $275 for shipping. ouch! Safety straps are standard. Plastic protection upgrade now get you sandwich style J-CUPS. Overall I think its still an ok detail.
