so that the grain (or whatever his base is) can hydrate and suck up the moisture in the remainder of the ingredients so that they dont fall apart when you eat them.

I guess he's just confused as to why it's called cooling (suggesting it was a high temperature) and not setting. I was wondering this too but I didn't care enough to post.

Bingo. Oatmeal No Bakes have to cool to solidifiy. Right when you mix them they will not be as a cookie per say, after mixing they are still a bit soft/mushy, and once they cool they solidify into more of a cookie being the base is oatmeal and give it a cookie texture.

^^ , coming from somsone who does not eat desserts. Think about this...Especially No Bake Cheesecakes ... Why cant we just eat the no bake cheesecake right after we make it? It wont settle. Same issue applies to No-Bake Cookies and so forth and so on, it needs time to settle/solidify. We cant just mix a no bake cheesecake and go to town.

Same goes for after you make a regular cheesecake or cookie, you cant just pop it out of the oven and eat it, one a cheesecake wont be settled, and 2 a cookie will burn your mouth and wont harden up until they get a few minutes to cool.

that's what I'm doing now, taking advantage of the real food haha. Little tip: Mama Mary's pizza crusts...2 in a pack, actually 100% whole wheat with no hydrogenated oils, and very little sugar (less than 1g/serving and they use some honey.)

    Protein Flan

Wow, this turned out amazing for how simple the recipe is:

    Recipe:

    2 Cups Milk
    2 Scoops Protein Powder
2 TBSP Cocoa Powder (optional, depends on protein/flavor you want)
    2-3 Tsps sucralose
    1 packet Knox Gelatin

    Directions:

Heat milk to near boiling; meanwhile combine gelatin, protein and cocoa powder in mixing bowl. When milk is hot enough, pour over dry ingredients and whisk mixture vigorously for 4-5 minutes (use a stand mixer if you can). Pour mix into serving dish and chill for at least 3-4 hours (preferably overnight). Top with whatever you please (I used coconut shavings), enjoy!
