Very very happy!! I worked up to a double with 410 with a hook grip all the way through and didn't have to chalk up at all! That's awesome and fixes the only issue I had with the original. I was chalking up by 315 before. I felt locked in place and could have kept climbing up. I'll have to start chalking up due to my fingers slipping on each other before I have to worry about my fingers slipping off the bar. I love this bar.

I've been doing a lot of 5x5 work with heavy squat/deadlifts and this bar is definitely an update over the bright zinc for this work. I can't exactly describe the feel of the bar, but it feels great, almost tacky, so for anything heavy, I opt for this. For my lighter/high rep workouts, I take the bright zinc and chalk it a bit. I couldn't be happier. Rep did a great job with this one.

Not a bar, but Rep Fitness just came out with a new FID bench. Looks like it might be a good option.

^Thanks for pointing that out! 19" is correct, measured it myself. Is something in the 17-17.5" range what you all would ideally want? I know that's IPF specs, so maybe our next version can be lowered to hit that range. 700 lbs max is probably conservative, but I want to do more testing before I increase that. For home gyms and commercial free weight(dumbbell) areas, that's enough for 99.999% of the market. If you're 250 lbs and benching 450+, you might just want a dedicated flat bench or some sort of monstrosity adjustable bench. I wanted this to be lightweight enough to ship for a good price and satisfy the huge majority of the market wanting something affordable but good quality.
I added a lot of the usual specs you might want to know on the right hand side of the product page, such as pad gap (2.25" in flat), height, width, etc...if I'm missing anything, let me know and I can add it.www.repfitness.com - Gym equipment manufacturer.

The popular Nebula/Rae 1080 is listed at 16" (is it really?). Lower benches usually are preferred on here (I would vote for 17"). Getting feet planted for people of all heights is important. Are those leg holders easily removable like the Legend 3164?
The Hoist has that small bumper support thing attached to the back bar (you can see in the above picture). Does the Rep's back pad just float when in decline? Is that sturdy? A video of how solid it is at all positions would be nice. Pictures can't tell you if the back pad sways or is shaky.

Rogue bought Nebula and their 1080 (Rogue AB-2) is listed at 17 1/4" height. http://www.roguefitness.com/ab-2-adjustable-bench

This is the equipment forum where details & precision matters
The 20" IronMaster bench is consistently put down for being much too tall.
A Rogue AB-2 was measured at 18 1/4" to the top of the pad (did Rogue change the height?). Does someone have a Nebula 1080 that they can measure?

I would also prefer 17". Or atleast 18" or lower. I'd be impressed if it you can make them in the US for that price but I assume they're made overseas. Correct? It is considerably lighter than the Hoist commercial benches but the design looks similar. The Hoist benches are also made in China but cost considerably more. It might be a nice option for those looking for a bench in the $300 range. You're pretty much limited to foreign made benches in that price range.... like Body Solid.
