i just started lifting a couple months ago and i'm not very strong. i curl the 20 or 25 lb dumbells for sets. but who really cares as long as you make progress.
Are you and aethist?
The bible talks about aethists.

I hate bicep exercises. They are the only body part I don't enjoy working. Maybe it's because I do them last on Friday, or maybe I do them last of Friday because of not liking them.
I do 3 sets of chins(last two assisted), then hammer curls with 45lbs DBs.

I'm curling a 60 lb barbell strict as hell, isolating my biceps muscle as much as possible, for 8-12 reps, 5 sets.
I move onto Dumbell curls which I do 30 lb each arm, 6-12 reps each arm, for 3 sets
Then preacher curls, with 2 dimes on each end, for 4 sets
I then move onto Concentration curls with 25 lb dumbells for 2 sets, and move that weight down to 20 on my last 2 sets.
I do this much work (16 sets total) because my biceps are lagging greatly from the rest of my body. I need to bring them up to speed, and this routine is working great for me.It takes a big man to cry, but it takes an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

anyone ever do 21's?
7 bottom to middle curls,
7 middle to top curls,
then 7 full curls
with a barbell, all in one set
mmm?

I really don't like 21's I prefer full stretch incline dropsets if your gonna do anything like that.
For how much I can curl:
145 EZ-Curl bar
60lb dumb bells 6 times
I believe in mixing up bicep workouts. Do core size bulking exercises: Heavy straight bar curls.
Then will 2 exercises for the peaks. like strict concentration curls, and incline db curls.Growing Exponentially Since Summer 2001.

I never find a max on curls cus temptation to cheat is too great
if I did ever find a max on curls I'd do it Preacher style so that would kinda defeat the purpose since I dont usually curl Preacher style
it's 5 30 am otherwise I'd make a big fuss about not telling anyone how much I curl, then conveniently 'forget' about my signature...
I'm too tired to type out the whole thing but I wanted you guys to know I thought about making a joke
so anyway see my sig and also not on the sig is Heavy Hammers
Heavy Hammer curls I use the 120lb DB's for 4 - 6 reps
I usually do 3 sets
I would have moved up by now but that's the biggest DB the gym has

how are you doing dumbell curls with more than half the barbell curl weight, that seems impossible to do without cheating triple tee.

p.s. don't dropset every week. I go about every other week. I usually go a full week of no dropsets, then the next week I have a "shock" week. I've gained a lot over the last 2 1/2 months at college. Changed the diet, added "shock" sets in ... and I've really been growing out of my clothes. Great feeling.
So, I highly suggest dropsets, supersets or just any "shock" type sets every once in awhile.Growing Exponentially Since Summer 2001.

Isn't this bad?
But make sure you go ALL the way down for the full stretch. It hurts bad.
I have only been lifting seriously for almost 1 year now, and I may just not "get it"...but is what that was noted the same as to doing this on a preacher bench, and allowing the arms to go to full extension?
And if it is, isn't this BAD? My thoughts are that at full extension you are not really able to use the bicep to do the lift anyway, and are only inviting injury? I have found that through negative reps on the down side to go to about 90%, and not allow the elbows to go staright.
If I misunderstood this, then I am apologize and ask to be educated!

Talking about straightening your arm ... I always give my arm a FULL stretch. Thats how you build muscle. Muscle contractions The larger the contraction, the more beneficial it is. Kind of like, 1/2 squats vs. full squats. The full is definitely going to bulk you up more if you JUST do 1/2 squats. I will only do 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 extentsions when i know for a fact that I won't be able to go all the way down, and back up, so I cheat the rest to get that maximum pump.

MDC, I agree, I hate biceps... I like back and legs workouts... chest is a chore, and bis... I just don't like... I usually throw the 25s on each side and do a few sets... 95lbs. I think... and I'm done...
