I thought some of the older lifters like myself might get a kick out of this.Edit:I picked it up off E-Bay last year. The can is unopened.
Back in my teenage years I drank cans of Joe Weiders Formula No.7 trying to packs pounds on my tall skinny frame.I'm sure there are more than a few others here who can relate.LOL
Ingredients:
Sugar,non-fat dry milk solids, dextrose, cocoa, salt, lecithin, natural and artificial flavor.
Compared to the ingredients in a modern W/G.....
Clean-Carb™ Preblend [Vextrago™ Brand High Molecular Weight Carbohydrate (Mw 1,000,000 - 1,200,000; From Barley Starch), Maltodextrin, Levulose, Corn Solids, Inulin (From Chicory), Soy Fiber, Wheat Fiber], IsoStack10™ Protein Matrix Preblend [Multi-Whey Blend (CFM-92 And ISO-95 Whey Protein Isolate, WPC-85 And WPC-80 Whey Protein Concentrates, Whey-80P {Peptides}), Milk Protein Isolate, Micellar Casein, Calcium Caseinate, Fat Free Eggplete™ Egg White, & Fat Free Egg Yolk Protein Isolates], LipoTherm™ Super Sport Oil Problend [MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides From Fractionated Coconut Oil), CLA From Sunflower Oil, Flax Seed Oil Powder, Borage Oil Powder], Cocoa, IntraSorb5 Calorie Uptake Preblend [Bio-Immune Colostrum (High Immunoglobulin, Lactoferrin, EGF, IGF-1 & IGF-2), Insu-Drive Complex (Alpha Lipoic Acid, D-Pinitol, Inositol, 4-Hydroxyisoleucine)], Natural Flavors, Sucralose, Soy Lecithin
I guess things have come a long way.
Does this can bring back memories for anyone else?

Back in the late 70's I used to buy 5 lb cans of Meritene (meal replacement powder for old folks, tasted terrible) and huge bottles of brewer's yeast tablets. That was my supplement regime. And I too, had the DP concrete filled plastic weight set.

Isn't it amazing how the protein powders and bars have changed for the better over the years taste wise. I remember I use to gag on just about every single replacement drink or bar made in the 80's and 90's. now most of them are just like candy bars and yummy drinks. My plastic set was gray. Just like how my hair is coming in.
Every day counts.

Wait, your saying you have this 30+ year old can of protein? Can you imagine the anabolic goodness that has cultivated in that can over the decades? I say slam it down right now and enjoy the the gains! Then again there is the cruel agonizing slow death by food poisoning possibility. Yea I'm thinking drink it too.

You guys are making me feel old all of a sudden. Is this a nostalgia item now? My DP set was also grey, but I remember I found some black ones at a garage sale and thought they were "hardcore" Stupid things were bulky as heck and the plastic would crack.
On the plus side, it looked like you were curling a 120 lb dumbbell[[[]==[]]] [[[]==[]]]

I remember trying to swallow horse tablet size liver pills and that gawd awful brewer's yeast.
Every weight gain powder I've tried in the last 20 years has tasted great.I remember these cans of Weider W/G having a malty taste to them.
Yes this can is still full and yes I think about mixing it up and drinking it.I mean really.....how bad can it be?

great memories!
like Charlie, I would down hundreds of brewer's yeat tablets and dessicated liver tablets....
in addition to that I was drinking nothing but whole milk, eating high fat content beef and nothing but whole eggs.....
in addition to that, I was working every bodypart twice a week and did zero cardio....
needless to say, I was growing like a weed! LOL........
( of course, being in your 20s had a lot to do with that! LOL)

I never used supplements until the last 20 years or so but I'm sure I've eaten thousands and thousands of hard boiled egg whites and thrown away the yokes. Also if you are what you eat, I'm certainly a chicken breast. I've eaten thousands of them as well along with canned tuna and salmon by the truckloads.
I also still have some of my old plastic coated weights. They're on dumbells for special applications and are rarely used but still as ugly as ever.
Most of my newer weights are iron and were picked up through the years in garage sales. I think last I counted I had about 650 pounds of iron and about 200 pounds of the old plastic coated concrete stuff on the back screened porch.
I rarely workout at home anymore but that stuff's not eating any hay in my barn.
I'm pretty sure I'm on my 4th bench and 2nd Smith Machine along with a myriad of Z Bars, 4 barbells, 12 dumbell bars and a bunch of specialty bars...
It's a wonder I'm not a LOT bigger as long as I've been "pumpin' iron"...
