Well everyone I've encountered a huge personal obstacle this past Friday. I got fired from my full time job. I haven't been unemployed in almost 18 years. It's a pretty rough go of it mentally right now and I don't know what I'm going to do next.
I know goodbye posts are often irritating but I can't keep up a facade of happiness for the next little while.
So for now I'm signing out. I don't when or if I'll be back.
I wish everyone the best.
Goodbye from Joe.

Sorry to here that sometimes things happen for a reason,
don't panic just yet you might end up with something better whether it be better pay or more of a challenge, change is a good thing it prevents you from becoming stagnant and learning new things.
Don't worry be happy!Being a real lifter is not about a number, or a medal, or somebody else telling you that you are a real lifter. It is about commitment to the iron and strength of purpose.

You are probably overwhelmed with anger, frustration, confusion, sadness, embarassment, and depression.
Don't make any rash decisions until you can sort things out and grieve a little. Look into unemployment benefits, if it's possible. I'm sure a lot of us have been fired before. The time I was fired several years ago, a friend told me the next day about an opening at another place of business, and I was soon hired there and had that job for 11 years until I quit to pursue something else.Time To Re-Schedule

Joe. I have been there and done that. 15 years ago I was broke and renting a room from a guy that owned a mobile home. You can turn things around if you try hard enough. Today I own a business and have 23 employees. I am not super rich but do OK. Just work hard, smart and you will be back on top.

You got fired???? OUTSTANDING!!!!! Now, what are you going to do about it? "A true measure of a champion is not how many times he falls but how many times he gets back up!"
Sure these are tougher economic times but companies are still hiring you just need to set yourself apart from the others. And for most it comes down to attitude. And in all reality, I would like to work for a company that is hiring during tougher economic times, just think how good they will do when the economy turns around.
May of 2007 I got fired from my job, you know what I did? Took a vacation and really enjoyed myself because I knew I didn't have to go back to work for a company that really sucked in the first place.
When I came home I started my own software company and I have never looked back.
Best of luck to you, NOW STAND BACK UP AND DO-SOMETHIN!

Something I learned having suffered bouts of depression is to maintain my schedule and a sense of normalcy despite my situation. When we start forgoing our normal activities and withdrawing we just feed the depression. I faced a devastation just here the other day while I was at work. My wife told me to come on home after work so she could comfort me. I said I appreciate it but no I'm going to the gym like I always do. I just need to maintain and not make negative changes that will feed that depression.
I've been where you've been and have suffered through traumas that brought me to me knees railing against God and attempting suicide. All I can say is this now. I can make you a promise. YOU WILL SUFFER. You will face adversities and all will seem bleak or lost. So life is not whether you will or not suffer or whether you're going to face obstacles. The measure of a man is in how you respond to adversity. It forms your character. Be thankful that God thought you man enough to handle this and is forging your character by the fires of adversity. Hold you head up and be proud that you are man enough for the task. I wish you well my friend."Tho' much is taken, much abides, and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,-
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Yes, I guess this will force you to quickly become creative, trial by fire, grace under pressure, et. al...
This is a huge pain in the ass and granted it's easier said than done what gbg left as her closing line, however, the rest of her message is ultimately correct. The only thing I hate worse than doing laundry and fighting in a relationship is having to find another job (or working at all), so if I must, I try to integrate myself in as thoroughly as possible so that losing me, under whatever circumstances, will leave a hole large enough to slide a semi pulling triple 53's through it sideways...
Anyway, best of luck in whatever comes next.Ongoing Journal: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106420991
