Actually, I find some guys are of 2 minds about this. First they say they want women to have intelligent conversations. They when they find one who can hold her own, they get all uncomfortable. Has happened to me more times than I can count. Most intelligent women have learned the art of dumbing themselves down at the appropriate moments.

It's really all about the approach to the convo.
Men and women communicate very differently. Men are very hierarchy driven and women are very equality driven. Not all, but most.
I would rather spend time with smart, strong, opinionated women. But some women try too hard to prove they are all that, and that is just as much a turn off as women who act purposfully ditzy.
I am sure of the vice versa goes for us men. Acting alpha makes a guy look like a douche, acting beta...even worse.Journal- One of the Ogres

Just tired of goin on dates with what feels like teenagers...
Makes sense, guys who get uncomfortable have an insecurity I feel because they might feel they are losing "dominance". Not me though, I find it sexy when a girl gets me to think, on an intellectual level. Not the whole signals game bullsh*t, try to guess what she is thinking. That annoys me like an emotional rollercoaster, not for me."We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." -Will Durant

I like Ron Whites stance on marring for looks.
If this were easy, everyone would walk around ripped.

Yep, this. Hitting the proverbial nail on the head.
Me thinks your 'picker' is off. Are you looking for girls in the same ol' places?

Well put, almost like the definition of insanity. Keep doing the same thing expecting different results...
First time being single where I am not in a school setting. Had gfs in HS, met my ex in college. Now that I am out and about not in a school setting and not that big of a social circle, I just meet them in public. Stores, restaurants, bars, etc. So I am doing something new."We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." -Will Durant

The big J R of today: Waiting one hour in a hot non air-conditioned waiting room for a 5 minute appointment where there was a little conversation (the 3rd time I've had this conversation), and me offering up my signature. Further rustling was insured by the people who turned up late to their appointment, but somehow were seen before me!

Sat night, hubs and I go to a really good restaurant, very pricy but worth it. We wait until 10 pm to avoid traffic, nice and quiet. We are seated next to a table with a woman, her husband their infant and two YO. The baby cried pretty much for an hour and the two YO ran around like he was at a play ground.

LOL, I think I can have interests in common with both men and women. So for example, I really like sports cars and know a thing or 2 about them, I don't say I am an expert, but I can have some kind of conversation about it. So at work a group of us is having lunch and a guy says he's looking to buy a new car and is confused, and asks "what's the difference between power and torque?" I had just happened to look it up about my BMW M3 so I volunteered an explanation. He waited for me to finish completely stone faced, then turned to the GUY next to me and asked the question again as if I hadn't said a word. Serious WTF moment. My colleague to his credit, laughed and said "what she just said".

These days pretty much everything to do with the elections rustles my jimmies, but my favorite today is the people who push idiotic slogans like "every vote counts, so go out and vote!" Ok dumb ass, this is California, not exactly a swing state, you know? We already know how people will vote tomorrow. They are going to vote for Obama. They are going to vote in favor of all the propositions to raise taxes. Deal with it. So if you wanted to go and vote for Obama, don't worry, everyone else is already voting for him, you don't really need to add one more vote to the landslide. And if you didn't want to vote for Obama, it's going to be you and 10 other people, so why even bother? I am all for going out and vote, but saying "every vote counts" is just frigging stupid. Unless you live in a swing state, that is.

I will NEVER be that parent! I can't stand people that do this crap, its like they don't care that others are paying to have a nice dinner out. If I want to go out to a restaurant that is nicer than a family oriented one I will make sure I have money to pay a babysitter or have someone I trust watch him, not torture others with a fussy baby. Parents that don't control their kids is my #1 Jimmy Rustler.

Jealous people.
Two of my friends have just started dating.
The guy's best friend, on hearing that, immediately got back together with his ex, who he has a very volatile and at times violent relationship with.
SMH. Some people have to have the glory all the time.
