you can do whatever you want

Though I would much rather squat 3x a week than do deadlifts 3 times a week.

Yes but it is not something you should always do.

You can do that type of training for a month and then switch it up because it will be very hard on the body.
    Start/Current/Goal (October 2013)

    Weight: 128/135/180
    Bench: 45/100/185 (5 reps)
Deadlift: 0/135/225 (These are my normal working sets with 8 reps)
    Rows: 30/65/95 (sets of 8)
DB Shoulder Press: 20/35/60 (sets of 8)

Yes you can, of course your body is going to hate deadlift x3 a week because its such a taxing movement, but your body will learn to cope with it as you progress
    Best lifts: 165kg Squat / 142kg Bench / 220kg Deadlift / @ 83kg Weight Class

    Current BW: 176.9
    Goal BW: Around 166-168

If you do low reps and really high weight on deadlifts, they are easily the hardest on the body because they recruit almost every muscle group in the body.

besides, it tends to fry the lower back which makes doing other lifts like squats fairly hard.

Also, high frequency deadlifting doesn't seem to have the same ammount of benefits as squatting with high frequency.

    Linearly is not fast enough.

If you are deadlifting 3 times a week you need to be progressing EXPONENTIALLY.
