This may have been asked but what would be the easiest way to remove the end screws. I have dumbbells I want to refinish but can't get those screws off.
But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. II Corinthians 12:9

IVANKO OBZ-40 OLYMPIC CURL BAR-
AN EXTRA-LONG, COMMERCIAL QUALITY EZ-CURL BAR.
Recommended for commercial use.
80,000 P.S.I. rated.
Length: 6 FT. 2 in.
53-1/2" between sleeve collars.
Sleeve plate loading length: 9-1/2".
Weight: 35 lbs.
Black oxide.
Recommended collars: COT-2.5.
How much weight do you all think I can really throw on this bar before getting into iffy territory?
As I was finishing my barbell hack squats today, out of curiousity, I picked up my obz-40 to see how it would work. It had some really great angles and I'd like to use it for hack squats but, I don't exactly put the bar down lightly.. I don't drop the bar but I'm not gentle with this exercise either. No bumpers, just a "platform". What worries me is that I never drop it level.. It always lands right side first (by about 1-2 inches).
Bad idea or overly paranoid?

If they are true Ivanko and they have never been disassembled and or properly reassembled...your in for some work.
1.) Get some soft jaws for your vise or use some brass sheet and clamp the handle in the vise.
2.) Get yourself a torch with map gas (hotter than propane)
3.) Heat the end for several minutes.
4.) Grab your 1/2 breaker bar and GOOD Allen socket and it takes a lot of force to break it free.
Ivanko Db's have thread locker on them. I scored a set last year to resell and the steps above are required or your just wasting time and will probably round out the Allen bit or the screw before it breaks loose. Ivan can tell you what thread locker to use on reassembly and what to torque them at.
Yes your going to ruin the labels with the heat, no worries they are available new.

Hi Ivanko dudes, what do you know about olympic compression collars made by 'Alex'? They look very similar to the Ivankos but I just bought them for half the price (UK). I remember hearing once that Alex plates were made in the same factory as Ivanko, but I don't know if there is any truth in that. Any help would be appreciated.

Those are some beautiful plates regardless of condition. In condition like that its even as nice as new looking to me.
Ez-lifts are so nice and easy to load once you use them its difficult to go back to a regular plate with no holes in them.
Yorks got nothing on these plates.
I could never afford to buy them all new, but if I found some used Id drop some money to replace all my regular plates.[]---[] Equipment Crew #6 []---[]

The condition is fairly beat up on all of my plates but they are still fairly tight on the bars. I can only imagine what a brand new set would be like.
I was considering going with all York but I couldn't get over the fact that I hate the 25's.. They are just so cumbersome. ike you said, not the case with the Ivanko EZ's.

Also, where in the world do I find the black/bronze collars shown in the small pic? I WANT!

Can you tell if that curl bar is Ivanko? If so I might go get it...

The only other person on the board that I'm aware of having these collars is nflan113 (he has the chrome version). I'm not sure what other bars he has besides the Ivanko bars that I think he got with the collars.
These are older collars that have been discontinued (bent tightening arm). They were made in Bronze and Black, and Chrome. The newer ones in Chrome and Grey will fit most quality bars (Straight tightening arm - I doubt you would have a problem with them on the TPB).▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #39 ▪█─────█▪
