Of course western boxing has better hands and anyone who tells you differently is a muay thai nuthugger.

The reason they have better hands?

Hands are their only weapon, they can spend all their time on it.

In Muay Thai only 25% of the time (elbows, knees, feet, hands) can be spent on hands. Of course if you train solely hands you will get better hands. Also in Muay Thai the hands are the only padded part of the body, so knees, elbows, kicks may be more effective due to a lack of padding... therefore maybe even less % of your time going towards hands.

If I had to pick one I'd go the muay thai route, I do both though.
