It is fine. Fructose still refills muscle glycogen. Think Lyle McDonald recommends glucose though as it supposedly impacts leptin more so try to get some starches in there.

Since when does fructose fill muscle glycogen?
It fills liver and any exces is quickly and easily converted to glycerol phosphate.
@OP, its not optimal but if it gets you through the rest of your week eating clean and it dosnt hinder your progress then eat the fruit on your carb ups.

This proves nothing, one group was only glucose and the other was glucose and fructose, both groups contained glucose. and the glucose fructose group had less glycogen replenishment.

Most fruit isn't pure fructose. There's a significant amount of glucose, either free or in the form of sucrose (or, in the case of bananas, starch). And glucose most surely does replenish muscle glycogen stores.

Liver glycogen is depleted by not eating. Any time when you're not digesting a meal, up until about 12 hours of fasting, you're fueled by liver glycogen. As the muscles start to take up blood glucose to replenish themselves, liver glycogen will be providing whatever glucose isn't coming in from food.

Even so, this is not ideal on a CKD. Your body will not select and adapt to fat as its primary energy source and you will not achieve the super-compensation for which the carb up was designed.

Yep I know. I agree with you guys 100%. All I was saying is that fruit does refill muscle glycogen. But as you mentioned, the best route would be to get all carbs as glucose whether it be in potatoes, pasta, oats, etc.

Why hasnt anyone mentioned that either way, some fruits provide great nutrition and fiber. Being able to indulge in some fruits and berries over your carb up is a good way to reward your body in many ways. As always, moderation rules!

Although I do agree that there are some powerful micro-nutrients in many fruits (I like berries and tomatoes,) I cannot agree that moderation always rules. Lets take the example of hemlock... how'd that work for Socrates?
