too many factors, but a top 3 only needs to win one main event to make a nice living winning the arnold or olympia thats all you need to do. Dexter trys to win arnold classic and has 3 cars all 3 all over worth 100k near 150k a piece cars has 3 homes all pimped out....probably half a million or million/year.

yea, the lady interviewing was like "ya we know its a small sport that is why you only get 350 a cover" and he was stumped for a good thing to say/comeback.
He is not one of the pros that truly loves BBing, and he made that clear, I show nothing but love to the IFBBers but Bui seemed real confused and seems to lack willingness.

i agree though not worth it....
he is not delusional bob just mad you gotta give him that on top of that he makes some good points about other things about being pro and what sacrifices are being made for every pro bber in general he just couldnt hack it and it was for a good reason that we dont talk about much here on the boards since its underground.POSITIVE 716251 from NEGATIVE 200,000

What makes you think he used as much **** as anyone else did? Just because he was big doesn't mean he used year round, dont always assume **** from your ass. He never said he was "mr natural hippie" he only said he didnt want to risk his health taking so and so and he used steroids for contest preparation. O no but im sure you have enough experience with pro bodybuilding to make all these asumptions.
He couldnt make it because he wasn't about to make the sacrifices needed to be a top tier pro. Whats wrong with that? Because he didn't want to kiss ass, do all the other drugs besides AAS, that makes him delusional? I think your just hating on him because he just straight up told it how the IFBB actually is, nothing wrong with that.

10-16-2007, 09:44 PM #40
Bull****...he couldn't make it because he didn't have the genetics to make it...if he "wasn't willing to make the sacrifices"...then you don't try for a pro card ion the first place, or compete in the pro's....
Bottom line is, if you aren't willing to do what it takes, so be it...but if that were the case, then you wouldn't be bitching about your placing, you would just accept it as those were the terms YOU decided on...
As for his take on "politics" in the sport...there only seems to be "politics" involved when HE doesn't win, or place well...
His answers are all over the place , and contradicts himself over and over....Bob Cicherillo - IFBB Pro Bodybuilder

The most annoying thing for you as an active or successful pro has to be the following.............
When a competitor retires or doesn't place well, he bashes the sport he so wanted to achieve in.
He does everything he can to bring down the IFBB's good name due to poor placings or bad genetics. Or even better yet like in Craig Titus case. Writes books or trys to expose the sport for something it really isn't just to make money in the sport you originally dedicated your life for and failed in.Keymaster of platinum accounts

We are in the same boat didnt you just recently bash the sport also alas IFBB in general due to judging and letting jay win etc...oh the muscletch sponsorship etc....theres tons of threads like that in general and thats bashing the sport also and bashing IFBB in general. This bui guy is no different than any of us in general. Remember when shawn was bashing the IFBB also back in the day he did the same thing as this guy, but Shawn in general is better in politics in IFBB than him obviously.

Thats true he was not willing to sacrifice it to be the champ he did claim he contempleted being pro and your right if he won it would have been different and went along with politics in general of IFBB. As for the genetics thing Bob thats a stupid response in general you mean he does not have the worth ethic and patience in general all pro bbers have better genetics than the average person in my opinion. Look at you I mean damn bro you won your first pro win at what 36 wasnt I can sit and claim you dont have the best genetics either after trying all those years. this bui guy just does not have the sacrifice and patiences like you do in general, but dont blame his genetics.POSITIVE 716251 from NEGATIVE 200,000

Eryk does not have the genetics of a Coleman or Wolf, his frame is not big enough, he could have decided that the mass monster look would not suit his small frame along with the extra potential health sacrifices. At the end of the day he did not present a package that bodybuilding wants at the moment.
As for the politics, any fool can see the sport is rife with it, its nothing to do with Bui.

Erik has always struck me as a surfer boy, not a bodybuilder, i think he was in the shows because he thought he was freakin beautiful, he admits he thought he alone could make a difference in the sport - erm, Erik,, wake up, you were never as beautiful as you think and you retired coz you were never going to make this big difference you imagined.
Personally, i would take Dorians look and mass to Eriks and i guess so would 99% of guys.
by the way, i switched this interview off at 3 minutes, without offending the podcasts, Erik bores me to tears.

If you google his name and look at his most recent contest, that was wear the gyno and puffy nipples were so visible and present. We showed them here a few weeks back. Actually if you did a thread search with his name on this site it would bring up a couple threads about him and the concern.
He had enough problems being small and all, but the extreme gyno didn't help any.Keymaster of platinum accounts

Were not debating pro's genetics to the average Joe's genetics...at the pro level...everyone has achieved a certain level of succes, thats why they made it to the pro level in the first place.
Once you get to the IFBB...it's the best of the best. To think Eryk had any chance of doing well against guys taller, wider, smaller waists, etc...is ludicrious. He would have done well within his class (under 210) had he come in at his best condition...but he was so far off HIS best condition, for him to even think he should have WON makes him delusional.
His accusations against Silvio only enforce it. Silvio weighed in at 206, competd at 206..and was actually a few pounds LIGHTER for the Sat. Finals...Eryk fails to see the obvious...yes, Silvio is just that much better than he is...as evidenced by his winning the 210, Europa, and most recently..placing 7th at the OLympia.
My looooong amateur career had nothing to do with genetics, but being able to dial it in on gameday. I always had what it took, as I placed in the top 5 in a much tougher time from 21 to 25 years old.....
conditioning you can change...tough to get a better shoulder to waist ratio, or become taller, or not blocky.Bob Cicherillo - IFBB Pro Bodybuilder

Sounds like eryk has got his titties in a twist...
Most of us will be well aware that if you want to be the best at anything then you will do whatever it takes to win. now i do not want this to sound all pro steriods but it is true in every sport.
When i was younger i boxed and i loearnt this lesson well. so many lads will step into the ring and they will give it a good shot, maybe win if the other guy back down. but as soon as they get start getting knocked around the ring they find a reason for it. Talent, biased judges so many different things can come into it.
but when it really comes down to it the only thing that makes a champ a champ is a complete acceptance that they will to suffer, hurt and be humiliated if they are ever going to be the best.
no amount of bitching about gh will ever change that.Altius, Citius, Forcius...

I jsut skimmed through this but isn't it odd that someone can't make it in this sport cause he's not gonna take enough "stuff" to help him along? Doesn't that say something for the state of the "sport"? It's not really about genetics at this point, it's just sad that if you're not willing to do x, y and z you can't make it.
kinda sad if you ask me.

i think the general idea is if you want to be the no1 you will do it.
alot of fighters severely deplete themselves to make weight, take erik morales who use to walk around at 12 stone and fight 8'11.
champs do what it takes. and if you don't wanna do what it takes don't bitch about it. find another sport or a pursuit that you can be the best at it instead of whiningAltius, Citius, Forcius...

Wow, alot of bitter interviews happening lately. I can appreciate the physique he's built and all the work he's done to achieve it, but he shouldn't be complaining about placings when he KNOWS that the judges will give a trophy to a guy who's 250 compared to a guy who's 205. That's the sport, he should've known that when he got into it instead of waiting until he's retired and complain about the steroid use that goes on. That would be like a guy going to an amateur show at 145(and being natural) complaining about the judges giving a guy that's 195(not being natural) the win.
Not a good career move on turning down the magazine cover. He might be getting screwed for only getting paid $350 but it's not like he had anything to lose from it. If Eryk Bui thinks that the sport will improve because he chooses not to do a magazine cover for $350, then he's sorely mistaken.
Nice name drops in this interview Mr.Bui...

so you think everything is cruising along at a good rate and the sport is doing fine like it is? nothing needs to be talked about or fixed....everything is cool? Never mind that the drug stacks are moronic at this point, the fact that there are numerous rumors about judges being corrupt either by supplement companies or by who will blow them?
You've got a great attitude "it looks great to me so I'll just turn a blind eye to everything that's bad"...I hope you never get cancer in one of your internal organs, you can tell the doctor "everything looks good so **** it, let it be....nevermind that I'm dying a nice slow painfuld death"
